i first fought the knight without the mantle for an hour before giving up and restarting ch3 to get it

The orb attack in general just forces you to not approach it so unless you're retarded and try to damage boost through it doing that, the fight's not that bad. You definitely die too quickly though. A good few of my early attempts would have won if I was granted 1 or 2 more hits in hindsight.

Too keep it short I thought it was very fun and cool. Ch 2 definitely feels like it hit its stride in every aspect. Queen's Mansion is probably THE best part/area of the whole game with how nicely everything comes together. Love the music, love the visuals, very much a 'me' game for the most part all in all.

Both were good in their own unique ways. Jevil was difficult as hell so I had to properly learn his patterns, so it was very rewarding when I beat him. While I beat Spamton on my second try, despite sucking at dodging, the presentation of his character and fight is spectacular and more than makes up for the low difficulty.

Mantle boss is fucking easy. Did it in like 20 mins and I've never even played zeldas.
Knight, even with mantle was fucking awful. Took literally 3 days playing all day because the attacks suck. Especially the second attack with the daggers, where you're surrounded by a circle. The one that splits the box and spews bullshit at you I find basically undodgeable. The rotating tunnel was also shit.
The other attacks I could dodge like 50% of the time.

Most people I've seen play have their Storage full of junk items they'll never use, which puts them in situations where they can't pick up items from chests. Others don't even get better equipment, and most are all just plain bad. I think the game has the right difficulty for what it's trying to do. Across normal gameplay you won't die much, but it can happen here and there, depending on the items and health you have going into fights. And it definitely has plenty of moments throughout fights where you have to wonder what to do to not die, because some new attack just cut you party's health significantly. The hidden bosses are more challenging, but they aren't so hard that you'll have to bang your head against a wall for hours upon hours. Each should be over within the span of 10 tries, including the most challenging ones. I think it's overall well balanced.

Unironically I think it's part of the chapter pacing. It's hard to imagine at the moment but the game really is designed for you to be able to play these chapters back to back, it being a prolonged mystery seems stranger from our perspective because from the games pace as a finished product, the amount of time where the game treats it as a secret is probably very minimal past this point.
I also expect the light world design to have some cool shit going on or some sorta visual twist that would have a better impact later on
