why do i immediately lose interest in a game when i find out it has a female protagonist?

Because you're insecure about your inability to get laid, and maybe because of some unresolved issues regarding your mother and/or sister.
Normal people don't have this reaction.

Maybe you just don't want to play as a woman. The trannies of /v/ were excited when they saw the new Resident Evil and Silent Hill, but I just saw shit that I wasn't going to play.

>because of some unresolved issues regarding your mother
now that i think about it, my mom cheating on my dads best friend then leaving with him forever might have something to do with it. you might be on to something here.

i have multiple favorite games with female protagonists or where they let you choose if you want to be male or female but i still feel that way sometimes. feels like it became a meme where people were interested in games just for having a female protagonist and not caring as much about whether the game was good or not. and good games with female protagonists being treated like they didn't exist for some reason.

Aside from that, maybe limited social interaction with females, or maybe just social interaction in general.

I only really do if it's some roleplay game where you're supposed to feel immersed
If it's some story-heavy corridor game like a Final Fantasy I don't mind
I actually liked Lightning
One of my only exceptions I can remember would be Femxile from KOTOR 2
If the game is interesting I'll play it, if it won't tickle my fancy through some trailers and gameplay or is blatantly frontloaded with creators checking boxes of what constitutes a marketable female character instead of writing something with any depth, I won't

I used to be fine with female protags when I was younger and with the game that came out at the time in the late 90s but now it feels horribly forced.
>boomer shooter doom inspired game
>all sassy f protag
I'm tired boss.

Eh, I get it.
You can play as Debra Wilson only so many times before it gets old.

They aren't believable. We have barely any history or legends of women doing something great. Guess history is sexist too..
