Intermissions are more fun to take at a leisurely pace and non comp IMO. I have way more fun with them in single player GP just driving slowly from track to track enjoying the sights and vibe and taking in the scenery and cute stuff they do with the enemies and other elements of Mario platformers. Online they're not so fun because you just bag them and then cut in front at the optimal time. It's a strat that works almost every single time and the alternative is getting fucked so everybody does it.

The thing is, intermissions are totally fine in Knockout mode. Its a mode that forces you to be at the front of the pack at all times. But they suck balls otherwise since the literal best strategy is to hang back and roll for good items to use in the singular lap on the real track.
I just don't get it. It's comparable to using normal maps for battle mode instead of those tailored for them.
