I personally like a combo of speedruns and challenge runs. Speedruns are really just a subcategory opf challenge runs.
I'd love to see something like Hollowknight Godhome all bosses Radiant (did this). A lot of horror games have achievements based around challenge runs (pistol only, no herbs etc). Those would be amazing. GDQ should just pivot to including challenge runs and a wider variety of gaming-related events/competitions. I know this would be out there but having 3-4 hours of one night devoted to a mini-fighting game tournament or something. Just as an example of more variety beyond speedrunds and outright challenge stuff.
I'd like to hear of more streamers doing challenge runs too. A lot of the old guard horror speedrunners that used to show up here that I still tune in to from time to time seem to have lost their spark.
