EA had completely and utterly unrealistic expectation in terms of what they expected from sales. Dead Space 3 was a game that got completely fucked by corporate meddling and completely unrealistic sales expectations which put the franchise on ice. The remake also was expected to sell 3 million within a certain period but only did 1 to 2 so the franchise was once again put on ice.

What the fuck was going on with shooting games in the late 2000s and early 2010s?
FEAR, Crysis, Resistance, Mass Effect, Lost Planet, Crackdown, Dead Space; they were all doing soft reboots, (usually) killing of their protagonists, changing up their mechanics, artstyle, basic gameplay elements, you name it. They were making sequels in name only that barely played like their originals. And they were all turning into almost entirely different genres by the time the third game came around.

Fucking Crysis became open world. Lost Planet became a multiplayer game then switched back to singleplayer. Dead Space and FEAR became coop shooters. Fucking Resistance went from a ridiculous hyperspace arsenal of guns with insane secondary fires to dialing it the fuck back and being way more scripted and CoD-like in Resistance 2. Mass Effect started as an rpg-lite in ME1 and ended ME3 as a Gears of War clone with rpg elements.

these were terrible and also what they did to dr kyne having him be so calm during the remake was atrocious character assassination. Also the audio log for mercer injecting the sample into the patients head was pussified so hard it ruined it.

Yes though with a powerful pc it somewhat mitigates it. It's how the game loads level chunks and assets that causes it and the pc version is just not well done in that regard. The original and the remake both do this but the remake is way less optimized in how it happens. Speedrunners of both versions actually abuse the level load points to break the game since they know where they are and can use the loads to clip out at certain points. I have a 5950x/64gb ddr4/samsung 980 pro m.2/7900xtx and i still get some minor hitches and I've messed with a lot of the settings. I find that capping the fps to 60 helps a lot and not using the upscaling option and just running the game native res and fullscreen works well enough at 1440p. Dunno why nearly all the dead space games have such bleh pc ports. Weirdly enough ds2 runs the best for me across all my systems over the years with ds3 being a close second but it still has that annoying door audio bug and some sections like the harpoon battle with the snow beast break sometimes. This is of course vanilla with no patches or fan fixes. Ds1 works well with the patch. Remake really needed 1 more update but never ever at this point it seems.

Normally I would completely agree with you especially when it comes to a shithole company like EA, but they really were shooting for the moon with Dead Space for some godforsaken reason. The IP had what like 3 fucking animated movies, mobile games and spin-offs like that wii game, a bunch of books. They were really expecting it to be a Next Big Thing and just could not grasp that it wasn't going to happen.

EA did the exact same thing to various Bioware IPs. They tried to broaden the games appeal instead of cultivating and respecting the niche they had, changing the games into something more action oriented and DLC or MTX riddled. Its actually funny because Dead Space, ME and Dragon Age all COVER specific fanbases who were loyally invested into these games. Had they just you know, fucking let the devs do their thing they may have had a series that could rival Resident Evil or something else. I mean the game is a blatant love-letter to RE and the devs admit it, they could've done something more or similar with it had EA not gutted them and made a shitty demake 10 years later.
