>>714834854>>714834614>>714834024I am a genius, and I can see into the past and future when I gaze upon an object. It is not because I have some supernatural power to see beyond time, but because when I perceive an object I immediately analyze its properties and deduce the most likely means it came to be, and its probable fate. I am accurate several standard deviations beyond statistical significance in my assessments of these matters.
This piece of driftwood came from a tree with a knot in its trunk, resulting from a branch that once grew there. The tree was felled by a storm and washed into the ocean, where natural decomposition and the endless crashing of waves wore the bark and other layers away, until this stick remained. Because the wood is stronger long the grain, the center of the knot separated, leaving the circular contour and remaining segments of the trunk you see here. It then washed ashore to be found by this man. There is a 95% chance that this stick was taken home by this man and is mounted on his wall at this time, however there is a 65% chance it has since been broken when it was used to strike a friend or relative in an act of most likely drunken horseplay.
Now, the mystery has been solved. I shall take my leave, for the presence of beings such as yourself is immensely painful for me, even in a virtual environment.
