They uber casualized it to a level that appeals to nobody because nobody wanted it casualized. Capcom either maliciously misread the audience they were making the game for and gave it the "yellow paint" treatment in MH form.

It's a success from a business perspective but it's probably going to be a permanent scar on the franchise. At this point they will need to make huge sweeping changes in the DLC or outright cut support and start working on the next game sooner. It had a plot, there were characters you interacted with and villages to explore, but they didn't get in the way of missions and gameplay, they didn't slow you down to the point where you felt like you were watching a movie. Monster Hunter World felt like a huge step backwards, and the annoying ugly assistant that was constantly shoved in your face didn't help.

I was on the fence about Wilds because, without fail, every established game series that decides to go "Open World" ends up fucking sucking dick. I played the demo and thought it was alright, but far from being worth the price they were asking for so I skipped it.

They both had terrible performance issues as well, and Wilds being much worse in this aspect doesn't mean World is excused just because you could brute force it much easier.

Yes, capcom fucked up MH. Wilds runs like ass and has less content than even base World, which was also complete ass. Its also a very easy game which does it no favors in the content segment since you can speedrun every hunt. They tried to pad out content by doing some FOMO hunts like in world but there's not really that much content regardless.You also spend longer watching shitty cutscenes and doing walk and talks than you spend hunting. The game is still technically a success considering how much it sold and it'll probably always be a success in Japan which is really the important thing for Capcom.

1) it actually fluctuating between like 45 and 25 for no good reason
2) changing graphics settings having negligible affect on frame rate but severe effects on the fucked up VRAM management
Supposedly they improved the latter somewhat but having to pray that using textures that don't look like an open world PS3 game doesn't make it run out of memory and instead start loading N64 LoDs on you is not a good time.
