Mega Man gets that title retroactively from people who grew up on his games, and even then that's been a long dead breed of people since he has only gotten one real game in the past 20 years.

Crash 3 introduced enough to use for a general moveset. If need be, you can grab a few other things from the post-ND games. But the other poster was right, Crash still has a dedicated fanbase in Japan and you can at least go the nostalgia route with him. If there is a new game on the horizon, he's the defacto big name that they can bring out that isn't already in.

Digimon should be in Smash to represent the Bandai side of Bandai Namco just like how both sides of Square Enix are represented.

Truth is not many VNs have characters that could actually be part of Smash, they either need to be characters that are known to be warriors (Archer) or wacky enough to come up with a silly moveset (Phoenix Wright), however we also have to consider that Fate was originally an eroge and Nintendo won't ever include an unironic porn game in Smash no matter how far they've tried to distance themselves from their roots.
They, of course, would also need to be popular enough and yet again VNs are pretty niche outside of Japan.

Giving Agumon its evolutions would effective be four characters in one, which would be too complicated for a relevantly-niche character. Managing his evolutions would also be a headache for players compared to switching out with Pokémon Trainer. But just having Agumon as is would be too generic and not representative of the series. BUT it's also the face of the series, especially compared to Renamon, so you would have to include it.

I keep forgetting that little fag made it in. I still think Arbiter would be a better pick. Sword and Plasma Grenade fit better for a fighting game than rifle bashes and bouncing frags. Plasma Pistol and Needler also have more interesting mechanics than any human weapon save the H4 sticky bomb launcher and the SpLaser. Grappling hook does lend it better for a recovery than anything Arbiter can get though (Banshee flying in or maybe Covenant grav lift are more interesting than a sword lunge that would likely be Arbys recovery)

I’d rather have Smash die than have another $55 of DLC characters. Full retail price of Smash Ultimate is $115 for all the characters, and people cry about $80 games. We don’t need more characters. We need a game with a solid base that actually feels fun to play. There are plenty of veterans that are using uninspired movesets from the 64 era that they could completely revolutionize in a reboot. We're coming to the Switch 2 era where a new Smash is very likely in progress, looking back to the Ultimate discussion, the assist trophy promotion theory has been very famous during all the past years.

While I understand the sadness of fans whose favorite characters are nonplayable in this game, I feel like this theory became kinda annoying when certain fans ignore the support of other characters who've never been NPCs in Smash series. Meanwhile, I also think this theory isn't created to support Barbara or Magnus who're missing in this game and have much need to get a promotion now.

Every character you see in Smash has a characters design with some sort of personality, the closest thing you have to "serious" looking characters in Smash are Samus and Snake and they still have some sort of personality in them, Samus' armor is incredibly wacky with am eye-catching color palette, Snake has a bodysuit with a secret agent theme going on, something that could also be considered sometwhat wacky and that still shows personality.

Duke actually has more cred then Doom or even Halo as far as resume to get into Smash, since he had atleast 3 Nintendo exclusive games(arguably 4) and was a pretty big 3rd party character in the west for the N64 era. The finality was in part because it was Iwata's last request to Sakurai. As for the creative director, it will likely be someone else. Sakurai only stuck around because Iwata, his mentor, asked him. He probably isn't cheap, and it he got a cut of sales (in lieu of a salary) like his video says, then Nintendo left a lot of money on the table not making the game internally.

There is reason to believe its being worked on already. After the Mario Kart 8 Booster Pass finished, Ultimate got an update with new Spirits and new events. It's gotten an update pretty recently too. It would make sense for the Mario Kart Group make Smash since
