Having binged it for 30 hours these past few days I can say it's alright. They give you enough ways to approach combat that it sort-of makes up for the terrible Borderlands-ish loot system god I hate WoW-colored tiers holy fuck it's everywhere now, and even if combat gets a little repetitive they shower you with XP so you'll have enough points to spec into 2 or so playstyles.
The story is pretty linear but it's fine for what it is. I think a more stripped-down, Deus Ex style of gameplay would support the story better than the GTA style they went with, but the city is interesting enough.
Game's a solid 7/10, nothing wrong with that. People just artificially inflated their expectations based on Witcher 3 hype and were understandably pissed off when the game didn't meet them. I say this having never experienced the launch of the game, so it's entirely possible it was a terrible 1/10 experience back then.

Shooting is ok so it could've been massively improved by removing the Keanu Chungus questline and just making it a more free mercenary/wetwork simulator where you just do missions for different fixers. Most of the RPG level shit should also be removed. We already have implants and that should be the main source of power growth, why even have perks? Maybe keep the bethesda "the more you do something the better you are at it" system but it should be subtle. Ditch leveled guns, make the damage dependent on the fired round

Cyberpunk 2077 is a MASSIVE critical and commercial success and the benchmark for any other game attempting an immersive futuristic sci-fi adventure. And one of my all time favorite video games.

All they did was fix the obvious bugs, like all the random T posing and shit like that. The game itself didn't change. The missions didn't change. The gameplay didn't change. All of the shit they promised which was missing from launch, is still missing today. Literally the only reason peoples opinions changed on the gamew was because of the anime. The game still had major bugs when the anime came out and the shift happened immediately.

Quest was unbeatable since NPC locations are stored even if you save/reload, move to the other side of the map, etc.
