For singleplayer games with online checks, all the bill would require is making the games playable without online, which even EA has been doing with stuff like NFS since 2016. SKG was killed only 2 months in by arguments that were entirely imagined and were part of an initiative that existed solely in Pirate Software's head and in the list of talking points publishers gave him. The problems was that PS became a massive lolcow in the year since, so when Ross dropped his response, people now refused to give PS the benefit of the doubt, saw he basically talked out his ass, and the entire movement became a spite thing fueled by internet drama, which is 1000% stronger than even the most ambitious of petitions. Thing is, it'll happened 1 month before the end of the initiative. Publishers couldn't react until it was already too late and the only arguments against SKG are all based around misinformation.

Lastly, no one signing or against signing seems to know Ross very well. Ross is not kerely on rhe spectrum, he is king of the spectrum. Any little hole you think you can punch in SKG, he has an entire slide, possibly multiple, devouted to. Why the Crew and not some other game? He can explain why it must be that game specifically for ten minutes of autistically researched French legal precedent.

Watch Ross's original video. tl;dr, the Crew is French, French law tends to override EULAs, Ubisoft is based in France, the specific wording in the Crew's EULA is the easiest to poke holes in compared to other EULAs and Ubisoft is one of the big players in an industry dominated primarily by Asian and American companies, etc.
