the first game was exactly the same. 5 hours of walkslop that journalists liked because "we asked real schizos what the voices sound like!". the first one was more insulting actually because it was frontloaded with combat/puzzles and straight up lied to the player and said there was a permadeath mechanic. the game strongly implied there was a focus on actual gameplay for the first 90 minutes or so. it might be the worst video game I've ever played across all genres and I'm not just saying that in the /v/ way where all games suck

The game is essentially a long, interactive film. That is fine if it is what you want, but it is very niche and pumping up the budget and taking 5 years to make the game is absurd. It's no wonder Microsoft has to lay so many people off when they give massive budgets to studios like this.
This is a game that barely has an audience.

Stop being dishonest. If you like these kind of movie games that is fine because I am not even saying the story/writing/performances are bad but even trying to call this a video game is a stretch. It is an interactive film. Though the subject is a schizo woman with trauma and mental illness so not many dudes are gonna identify with her.

I know this is just another "WEST HAS FALLEN" grievance bot thread, but Hellblade was always a walking simulator+ game. But for a movie game it wasn't at all a bad one: Cool visuals, somewhat engaging story and protagonist and JUST enough gameplay to keep you from being bored. I was pretty happy with it, picking it up at some sale for reasonably cheap.
If you bought the sequel expecting God of War or something then that's entirely upon you. But it's pretty obvious you haven't played it, nor any other vidya for that matter.
