Honestly being promoted could be interesting storywise since there are several pawn characters who can be promoted, but I'm not sure if we'll have a choice or not in how it goes

For example Noelle could very easily be promoted into a Queen or Knight depending on route and choices, I'm unsure if Kris's choice matter and he might always become a Knight but it'd be based if our promotion choice does in fact matter and where we can go and what we can do changes depending on our chosen promotion piece since it'd basically be the Undertale Neutral endings in a way - you'd have Queen, Bishop, Rook and Knight paths that each may give you a clue for other paths

Guilty as charged. I didn't even paid much attention, it was just "Antlers = Dess". Frankly, I never thought much about Knight's identity before the new chapters, but I liked that idea immediately, that was a cool twist - instead of being some vague missing girl, Dess is corrupted into our antagonist.

I can get that from chapter 1 and 2 but with 3/4 you literally enter her room have a small battle in her closet and watch a big old drama unfold over her guitar. By the way I've seen some people talking about darkners absorbing human souls to become lightners and it gave me a thought.

Maybe that's what all monsters are? Former darkners? Maybe lightners were humans by default at the start but when some darkners absorbed human's souls they became lightners but kept their inhuman forms? Resulting in monsterkind? That doesn't mean every monster in the game right now has absorbed a human soul because lightner monster parents will have lightner monster children. In other words the monsters in the game all have an ancestry that started with some darkner absorbing a human soul.

Maybe that's what's revealed in one of the last books in the library when we finally get access to it.
