I actually really dig how many artstyles and "game within a game" scenarios have been crammed in DR ever since Queen broke out her giant Punchout robot. I would have never thought the game would have had 3D models beyond the gimmick of Jevil's background, but it was used pretty seamlessly for those climbing sections, and even Tenna's background used it like DKC2. Undertale went for a deliberately minimalistic pixel indieshit presentation, but Deltarune was already on the right track by having traditional pixelart interacting with battle scenes, just compare how much more animated Gerson's fight is vs Undyne's. Game has a lot of effort and thought and gusto put into it, Iunno.
