Why does anyone believe these people? He probably had a mig or something. My launch switch 1 was modded to hell and back and my retarded younger brother even launched games while connected to the internet and I never got banned. I was probably lucky but I also bought quite a few eshop games. My switch 2 is fine and I don't think they care.

Idiots who got their Switch 2s banned have been either returning or reselling them and because storefronts aren't checking and there's no way to really protect yourself with a resale people have been getting fucked over. So it's plausible that they bought a secondhand or open box model that someone tried to hack

just found the thread this came from. apparently the guy bought a 3rd party eshop card, and the site he bought it from did a charge back. his posts and story is wildly inconsistent, so it's obvious he did something that he isn't being honest about. nintendo already announced they were going to do this if you did anything that went against their terms, and only a retard would have chosen to not take them seriously about that.

Because you last heard it for the Switch where it was also true. Switch is locked fucking HARD, so hard in fact that unless you have a launch model which has a panic-handler you can trigger by shorting one of the rails on the right joycon slot, you're stuck putting a modchip in. And Nintendo will still ban you pretty swiftly if you're not smart and don't take all proper precautions.

Hardware ban should be reserverd for either hacking in games or CFW because both of these things pose a threat to either other users or the company's servers, and that's after it has been confirmed 100%.
Automated systems bricking your $500 hardware because you inserted a funky game card is bullshit and will end up with legitimate users having their consoles bricked, either because some bad coding or because a dusty cart causing bad contacts triggering the system.
