>>714946426You are technically correct but if we'd were discussing that level of intended literature approach, we would not be in a thread about "I died from a diarrhea and now have godlike powers in another realm"- The Genre in the first place.
Which, by the way, was a meme writing approach in literature circles long time before whole japanise neet/salaryman thing even kicked off and started to plague the medium.
The trope was usually used by a amateur or lazy authors. They had issues with writing fantasy protagonists which would act naturally within their own world and ruleset, as well as coherently present said world to a reader without literal loredumps.
So they shove "guy from the modern world" to both justify pretty gross loredumps and protagonist acting as a clueless retard, as well as cut many other corners.
Those stories often also had plot device that solved language barrier... unless that issue wasnt outright ignored.
Surely, there are stories where "visitor from another world" idea executed really well. The point is - its not the trope people were mocking, but the reason behind it.
Same with current isekais, bland self-insert MCs, blantant power trips and all that.
