Are the 3D remakes of Final Fantasy III & IV worth playing, /v/?

I recall playing one of them for like a week off and on. It's was fine. Whichever one it was.

My understanding is no.
But I've only played the "patched" GBA port of 4 and the recent pixel remaster version of 3 and they were fine. Nothing that made me say "wow I wish this was in 3d"

III? No. IV? Yes, but only after you've played one of the "regular" versions first. You'll enjoy it more since it kind of does its own thing.

I always look up the best version to play, before I start them and I think 3 is the 3d version.

IV remake has its differences, but if you were to only play FFIV once, I say the remake. It amps up the difficulty and gives you a relic skill system to customize your characters a little.

This. Honestly, the 3d version of IV is the best version, but it's not suited for a first time playthrough. And not only because it's way harder than any of the 2d ones.

It's "harder" in that every boss in the game gets to attack twice in one turn, often leading to bullshit deaths because the same character got attacked twice in a row.

Outside of that it's actually easier.

Absolutely, though see them as different games. For FFIV, there are so many versions you can go for - I'd recommend FFVI for PSP, Ultima for SNES (a fanhack) and DS. The 3D version is much harder than the other official versions of the game, but PSP has the most content. Ultima is a great senpai rebalance of the SNES version with a shitton of new bosses and content. Ignore the FFII version (original localized version) and the PS1 ver.

For FF3, you only really have 3 versions. NES, PR and the DS version. They're all worth playing as FF3 is great in all versions.

I found that I needed to use mass slow on regular encounters as well in the remake while I could just mash attack in the regular version.

they are respectively the best and second-best versions of ff3 and ff4. pixel remaster ff3 is a tragedy, unfortunately. but DS FF3 is pure kino if you can get past the sometimes absurd difficulty

it might not be the best but I have a very soft spot for FF3 and is one of my favourites, even if the 3D remake sucks or 5 does jobs better or yadda yadda. loved the DS version as a teen and it's still a regular 'brain off while watching a TV show' game for me. no heavy story to concentrate on, just pure JRPG gaming for the sake of it.

I beat it, it's still the worst version. Job sickness is ass and removes any incentive to experiment with different jobs.
The only place where I struggled was the final stretch anyway

IIRC it's fine to play the 3d version but anything's fine. The 3D aditions are just story entries for the charactrers so take it or leave it
>4
4 3D was re balanced and is difficult which can be really enjoyable. If you dont want it to be a cakewalk play that, otherwise play PSP/pixel remaster

Having a few subpar battles that you can piss away on filler fights is awful, you're right. Much better with capacity and how it worked in the original where you can just brick your character by experimenting with jobs, retard-kun.

III no. IV yes, but not if you haven't played IV before because it's intentionally way harder.
>>714939612
This. There's only what, 3 enemies max per encounter? Also the music is bad.

It's almost like artificially limiting the player being able to change jobs while also requiring it for gimmick fights and dungeons is terrible design. It's almost like FF3 is shit no matter which version you play

FF3 is stupid bullshit by the end of the game. In crystal tower and the earth tower place regular enemies become stupid strong and in the crystal tower you get zero save places so if you die in like the dark dimension you get sent back 1-2 hours.
