I mean, for example, Charlie Cox has been acting in theatre, TV and film since the early 2000s and the very first time he's asked, on a whim, to do a video game (Clair Obscur), he just obliterates "real voice actors".

Also media industries have to follow certain union practices and guidelines. Pretty sure no Xenoblade VAs are SAG, but they don't have to be since Nintendo isn't American

It's not as easy to get hold of. A lot of these companies likely have contracts with VA companies/agents that keep them working with the same people, or similar ones. British VA is growing in popularity though, as people tend to prefer it in a lot of places.

Dumb question but are the voice actors for Vermintide and Darktide theater actors? Because they sound so much better than the normal VAs for gaming. I know in DQ11, all the VA work was done by theater actors.

I think the reason I hate a lot of voice acting (even in cartoons and shit) is that a lot of characters don't sound like someone speaking but more that someone's putting on a voice.

Well they are employed an awful lot so I'm not sure why you think they're not.

But to answer the question for why they might not 'want' to do video games. It's because they're actual voice actors unlike Americans. They're professionally trained and have better career prospects available as a result. A secondary reason may also be because American-centric studios will tend to prefer to hire American VA's due to politics and ideology. And because they are contractually obliged to since American unions are basically the mafia and won't let studios hire non union VA's, which 99% of British theatre actors won't be a part of.

I'm English and I wish more people felt like you. Our accents obviously have their place, but it is so inappropriately used now sometimes it utterly ruins a setting. A great example is Diablo 4, the game is terrible anyway, but Diablo 2 in particular was proper American sword & sorcery stuff. The American voices were perfect for the theme and then they went and made everyone english for 4 and it totally destroyed that 80s/90s fantasy feel.
