I always thought it was odd that vampires are mentioned offhand in the very first book and then nothing comes of it. Like even the giants and werewolves get to finally do something when they team up with Voldemort at the end but I don't think the vampires even do that much.

Werewolves just aren't that interesting compared to vampires. Guy turns into a large humanoid wolf, that's it. Vampires on the other hand have numerous supernatural abilities and live forever.

Because vampires can move among regular humans without alerting them. That's part of the point, that there is a predator is their midst and they don't even know it. Vampires operate almost in plain sight. Werewolves cause the entire situation to turn into a shitstorm the moment they transform. The only time they work well is in a setting where people aren't surprised when a monster appears. Which is what werewolves are. So only in areas that are practically warzones are the only places they can truly do their thing. Meanwhile vampires can be doing all their blood drinking, mind controlling, murdering and corrupting human society without alerting everyone

This is precisely why I feel like women actually like werewolves a bit more than vampires, as far as sex goes. Vampires are the charming, romance novel types that get a girl into bed and make dark, passionate love to them, which I'm sure is fine and appealing for their conscious brains. But werewolves? Werewolves are primal urges made manifest, and a werewolf during sex would be rough and dominant, a mirror of the exact moment a human man goes fully primal during sex, and I have no doubt most women secretly love the idea of being held down and fucked with wild abandon by a strong brute that wants to claim her in every way imaginable.

Ever since furries showed up cool werewolves aren't really a thing. They took the edge away and made them cartoony looking with I want to rape you eyes that people find unsettling. Vampires will always mog the hell out of them, because it's mostly just attractive people seducing others and drinking their blood. They also are insanely strong and fast and aren't dogs.
