Why doesn't Wayforward do a "SEGA" or "Nickelodeon" and license the Shantae IP to be made into a comic series? It'll probably give them more revenue and would actually turn Shantae into a franchise and not just series.

Matt has described Shantae and Wayforward’s relationship as sorta like Pokemon and TPCI.
The Bozons own the Shantae IP and series and license it out to Wayforward, who Matt happens to be a founding member and CCO of. If/When Matt retires from Wayforward, he’ll still retain full control of the series.

They're all moderately decent platformers with light metroidvania elements whose earnestness and cheesecake art doesn't quite make up for their simplicity or lack of polish. They're by no means bad games but when it's carried this hard by aesthetics it's difficult to distinguish secondaries who just jack off to the girls in bikinis from the idiots who have played five of them hoping the next one is going to be good (myself included).

It's not a design they're using for a Shantae game. That Shantae pops up at the end of a tech demo for something not related to Shantae, using a heavy sci-fi theme, so it's obvious she was just placed there as a fun 'what if.'

I played on release and found it immensely boring, and the story is dogshit with characters being way more retarded than in the rest of the games. The bomb scene especially.
But the biggest reason is that there's no Virt.
