Is Horizon worth picking up while it's on sale?

i've never seen a single fan of Horizon and I'm terminally online

i don't understand people i don't know what to say to them and i dont understand why they respond the way they do

Sony obviously really want Horizon to be a huge franchise but I think the only value was the discovery that the devs had taken the time to give her proper nipples. But then they were patched out.

fwiw It came with my PS4 Pro at the time and I enjoyed the world building, environments and combat but the characters are terminally retarded and the big bad is some comically "evil entitled white dude" and relies too heavily on the ubisoft tower formula. I never bothered to play the sequels.

Yeah and no.
It looks good, the gameplay is fun, the movement/climbing is medicore in the first, good in the second, the robosaurs are great in both.
But, and it's a big but, it's one of the very few games where the story and characters are so dogshit bad that it really sours the actual play part. I can't fault anyone who just skips trough it eventually.

It is one of best game I've played that I find difficult to recommend playing. Not because it is for a niche audience quite literally the opposite. The gameplay is high budget AAA third person action game in a open world. It is exactly what says it is on the tin. It is perfectly serviceable as it is most safe game in design philosophy you could get in a game. It is hard to recommend because you've already played this game. The story is extremely woke and bafflingly stupid. The sequel is even worse in this regard.
