On topic: what anons miss here about Gnosticism is its allegorical nature. Most of the Abrahamists in this thread take Plato and Gnosticism literally, then they try to debunk the strawmen with walls of Catholic apologia.
It's an immutable fact of reality that this physical existence is predicated upon pain, suffering, and needless evil. Organic life is built upon it. A loving and benevolent God would and should have done better. If we're all His children, then he's either a demonic abuser, or an absent parent. Personally I think Earth and this life are a prison - we're doing penance here for crimes we've committed elsewhere. And the worse your life here, the greater your crimes were out there. Hylics like high-level billionaires are NPCs, they're part of the framework. If they were ensouled they'd not be wasting their fortunes on petty villainy like power and control. Most of humanity are golems. There's precious few of us who aren't hylics/NPCs. That's why we suffer s much, because we're trapped here with soulless automatons.
