No, I see the parallels, the problem is Team Cherry also see it and aren't actually denying they have drawn second hand inspiration from Dark Souls (picrel). Those things that seem generic in isolation are that way because they were likely pulled from other games that weren't subtle in its inspirations for people who actually know what they were inspired by.
