>>715047231>I know they're not like, super related, but if I really want to get into Nier, should I do all of Drakengard first? They actually are related,
but each game does work okay as a standalone game.
Drakengard is a... fascinating experience, but it is VERY raw in every possible way.
It's not user friendly, it's not clear what it wants you to do, and it is very grimdark from start to finish. And that's kinda its whole point.
I personally started with Automata few years ago, and I loved it so much, I hunted down all the past DrakeNier games. Going through them "backwards" felt like I was some digital archeologist, slowly unraveling ancient lore and explanations to the terminology and symbolism I'd witnessed.
in short, if you're unsure, you can just pick up Automata, and see if it's for you.
>>715047898>I completed 2B's story but couldn't into 9S's storyYou actually did NOT finish any stories, period.
The B chapter is indeed 9S' perspective of the A route, bit like Resident Evil 2's Leon/Claire route system, but not only does it flesh out and even re-contextualize A TON of what you witnessed during A run, but it all leads to the absolutely brilliant chapters C and up - where the game properly "starts" and "ends".
Not to mention 9S' gameplay is WAY more fun and varied, with tons of side content only he can access.
tl;dr: Go finish the game!
You are missing out, just like the IGN journos back in the day!
