M-discs are kind of a rip because their whole thing is "dude trust us it'll last forever" but plain old Blu-Rays are great for archiving stuff. 25 gigs to a pop for the single layer discs which is plenty for backing up stuff that actually matters (100GB of Call of Duty cache files does not matter, that's haording) and the discs themselves are pretty damn durable and don't have the shitty organic dye that killed so many burned DVDs.
