Probably because they don't give him standalone games where he can go treasure hunting and be awesome anymore. It's standard flanderization, just exaggerated by the the lack of standalone Wario games. It feels like Wario, out of the blue one day, stopped being cool, weird and gross in favor just of being weird and gross.

I tried Earthbound for like an hour and it was shit. Just a boring Dragon Quest clone (which is already the most boring RPG series) with quirky reddit chungus set dressing. AVGN did nothing wrong shitting on that game.

No it didn't, Wario Land did fine. The only game that did poorly was Shake it, and that's because they did a double stupid combination of extremely expensive hand-drawn cartoon graphics, and had Good Feel be the ones to handle development. It looks great but plays terribly, the level design is a mess and the bosses are garbage.

F Zero is far, far better than Smash makes it look. I'm playing the SNES game and having a ball, the controls and track design are top-notch, especially for a game 35 years old.
Ice Climber is actually one of the worst games Nintendo has ever developed, I'm talking Urban Champion/Amiibo festival bad. I have no clue who was ever excited for it to be in Smash.

Devil World, if you ever got the assist trophy is just a pretty bad Pac-man clone. It's neat as a novelty, as the only famicom pulse line title to not get a western release, but it just isn't good.
Gyromite is bad.
Duck Hunt is good.
Nintendogs is great.
Pit was a based as fuck inclusion, Kid Icarus is pretty neat.
If you know Nintendo history Popeye deserves to be in Smash Bros more than any other third party character except Pac-man, and I'm not kidding. Only Doomguy is equally worthy.
