I finished Wanted: Dead this week. It's a good action game, but there's something weird: it seems it was cut short, a lot of things like characters and relations are very briefly introduced/show up/we interact and it clearly needed more content.
Not only it ends on a cliff-hanger but it also feels kind of rushed and unfinished.
It's like a cyberpunkish short No More Heroes; if it only had as much content... Eh, anyways, I got it at 80% off at this summer sale, so it was totally worth it; would buy the sequel or at least a DLC for some closure.

Origin was surprisingly good, there is something very satisfying about getting all the timings down to pull off the actual long combos. Lei is an extremely fun take on ranged characters, and the game is very pretty.
Not as deep a game as I would have liked, I do miss a lot of the character switching and crazy combos you could pull off in Z2 Chaos, and Saaya's chainsaw moveset especially.
At least we got the best final boss theme.

The NG3 outfit looks good but I kind of wish it didn't have the grip of murder, they could have a toggle for it which would be great. Anyway I noticed that Guillotine Throw has proper collision when you throw one enemy into another which looks interesting, it might do the same wall bonus damage to the one thrown but the other guy gets a big stagger, maybe it does damage to him as well. The attack at the end just looks cool as fuck.

I know they buffed Ayane in a post-launch update for NG2B because she was fucking useless, but did they buff Rachel as well? I remember her chapter on Mentor was annoying and difficult on Mentor when the game released, but I just went through it on Master Ninja and found it quite easy.

I mean it was awful playing as Ayane in my experience. Her moveset was so bad you would whiff attacks against enemies right in front of you while getting raped from all sides because her moves had zero homing or tracking around her. Her weapon did such low damage and have the lowest delimb percentage out of any character. Her ninpo did genuinely fucking nothing at all, no damage, no delimb, basically just pushed enemies away from you to safety. The only way to play her without dying instantly was to throw flying swallow over and over and wait for a decapitation.

I really like Wanted Dead. It’s a fun game with glaring flaws that may be interpreted as quirks. Combat has a lot more depth to it than people think but the game doesn’t tell you what to do. Instead they just give you a training area expecting you to figure it out. You definitely need to do better than button mashing as you progress. Combat scenarios peak mid game with ninjas that come at you hard. Some bosses can be very punishing, unless you know what to do - my go to is dash attack stagger and headshot with appropriately upgraded gun. Third person shooting is good, but you can’t rely on it too much especially if you aren’t aiming for the head, you will be wasting a lot of ammo. You also need to upgrade your gun especially for certain boss fights. I think all the pointless weeb mini games are charming but some might not think so. I like the setting, cyborg zombie squad in Hong Kong, the story is nonsense and the voice acting is dopey. But the game lets you know that it is self-aware of it. I love it, but I can understand if some wouldnt

I don't know if it even fits in these threads desu, but it was okay. It's a decent 3rd person shooter with action game elements, the setting and characters are fresh with enough to latch onto, gameplay feels unique and fluid, the levels are different enough that it doesn't become stale, etc. It's about as good as those forgettable but fun gimmicky action/shooter games from the 360 & PS3 days (including the randomly added gimmicks like rhythm games). It's like Astral Chain's cop setting in a kind of Tarantino film style, if you can find it dirt cheap you will probably enjoy it.
Also the protagonist isn't attractive, she's just not ugly.
