This came to an abrupt halt with the start of the current editiom, when the Great Horned Rat ascended to being a full blown Chaos God with Archaon's help, which prompted the Skaven to nuke half a continent and begin invading everywhere.

They're good but you don't really need them as a new player. Winds of Magic, Forgotten Relics and Return to Ubersreik come with new weapons and Winds of Magic also gives you Cataclysm difficulty, which you won't be ready for for some time. The DLC classes range from good to busted, they have more flair than the vanilla classes which makes them shitter magnets though. Hold off on these until you've tried all the base classes imo, unless one really strikes your fancy.

The Elf gods are almost entirely dead, Asuryan has abandoned the world, Isha and Ariel have joined with Alarielle who is enslaved to Malekith, the Oak of Ages has not only died but was corrupted by Nurgle to wipe out many of the Asrai, and Lileath (Kerillian's own matron deity) has abandoned the elves in favor of the Bretonnians.
Kerillian is undergoing the literal end of her existence. Even if the End Times are stopped, the Elf race as a whole is fucked and the Asrai in particular are the first to fall.

Dwarf only has three wholly unique melee weapons that aren't kruber tier weapons. And the shield weapons are submissive. In modded realm difficulty people want you to mow the lawn, there is no benefit to shelling up and not attacking while dodge stepping. The shield and flail and shield and spear have a guarded frontline attack BUT NOT YOU SHORT. I'm embarrassed to say it but we need a dark elf game playing as dark elves because I want to fight and shoot Slaan. I don't care about books or toys. Just give me that and you'll get 120 quid.
