What are people's main issue with this game? I'm playing it for the first time now, i'm almost halfway through the game i think (chapter 6) and it has some REALLY WEIRD pacing.

It's insane that you are thrown into the world barely knowing anything about the Noctis' kingdom or the Empire (desu, i find it funny that Noctis is royalty but we almost treat the power conflict here as if it was democracy vs monarchy or something when we're talking about two kingdoms).
People have said that the DLCs give more context to what's happening in-game, but is that even true or do i need to watch the movie and anime to understand the big picture?

You know what people hate the most about FF15? It being an actually good game for starters. It just feels like a journey with your bros for once. No forced anime drama bullshit, just coming to terms with your own death. So kino.

I said that the pacing was weird, the way the game goes through the story is what's weird, not necessarily the game itself, the game i honestly think is good. I know people dislike that you can just press square and the character fights automatically, but i don't care.

They changed his versus 13 outfit

It's a complete dev hell mess. Tabata took whatever little progress Nomura made with Versus and shoved in Type-0 combat and condensed a trilogy of games into one product just to please Squeenix chairmen. Worst part, the scam worked, it sold like hotcakes. Nobody apparently cared the game was blatantly rushed and unfinished (and still is after literal years of updates and DLC). It is criminal nobody seems to realise Tabata is a complete hack because who the fuck would want to play Type-0 and realise this is the same game only slightly obfuscated.

Noctis and Ignis deserve a better game. And it's going to be Verum Rex.

its a good game, but you really do need to watch the movie. I replayed and actually finished the game and all the dlc recently, watched the film right before the chapter with the boat and yeah, it is basically the opening and all the background for the game.

also half the dlc are non-canon, but are cool to see. In terms of extra context they arent really relevant.

Oh boy the big picture is pic related. Sorry for the reddit post but its the best summery. And even after playing, watching, and reading all this the game still wasn't finished.

Also you need to play the Royal Edition to truly get everything from the game as it revamped the final chapter, along with a bunch of other stuff, into being decent while still carrying a lot of other flaws. The game itself was fine to me personally up until a certain point. Everything after chapter 9 or 10 is when the story speed blitz into point of no return and I think that's where the real deeper flaws started to show up.
