The gameplay was more fun and varied than the first, but the story was absolutely shit. I understood DS1's story perfectly but I have no idea what was even going on in this game. The DHV magellan cam suddenly fly? The DHV magellan suddnely has tentacle-like wires that can connect to giant BTs? Tomorrow causes the Extinction Event but instead of it happening, she turns into giant baby Lou and eats Higgs? Fragile was dead but also not? Diehard Man was somehow hiding in the ship the whole time? How was the president suddenly appearing in the ship randomly? What was with the fake Higgs that we kept fighting? Who was the red samurai person and why did it decide to fight us? Neil's body caused the voidout but also Sam was there trying to rescue his wife? How was Sam having visions about Neil when they don't even have any sort of connection? The story feels unfinished. Especially with how anticlimactic Fragile's and Higgs' deaths were.

I don't know, i know that i beat the first game and hated it and that's why i didn't buy DS2. Even tried to convince myself i wanted to play it, but as soon i started watching people playing it i saw it was more of the first game.

Die Hardmsn hiding on the ship is actually set up several times. When you first board and look at the ship map, selecting the storage room has Fragile tell you it's contaminated. After finding Heartman, selecting it has Charlie tell you, in a very jokingly angry way, that it's closed and poisoned and stop asking about it.

I like the individual scenes, but this is the first time I've felt the contrivances in Kojima's story seriously cheapened the whole thing (and that's even including the nanomachine fuckery in MGS4). Everything surrounding Lou and the conclusion of that plot was disappointing. Great spectacles, though.
