I don't know in what world Red Alert 2 ends up on this list. It's a good game and sold well, but it's not the most popular, best selling, most original or most influential of its genre; if you put it in a collage of RTSs, it wouldn't stand out at all. Didn't like the aesthetics at all, the music and the way the world was designed. Didn't care for anything that was happening and didnt like any of the characters, hated the amount of the backtracking with the constant respawning enemies that i found to be tedious, i generally found the gameplay and the combat very boring and braindead.
I remember i reached a desert level with skeleton enemies before dropping it since i wasn't having any fun with my time.

It was weird because i enjoy games like Hollow Knight, Castlevania and Ori.

Understandable. I honestly think it's neat. The game is short and simple with lighthearted humor, the soundtrack was comfy and appealing with strong melodies that are catchy and hard to forget. Didn't really hate backtracking since i like hunting for secrets and exploration, enemies are easy to handle since you can just obleterate them with max lvl guns.
I think it's the similar case with how some people hate Earthbound, it's the kind of game that you either get charmed by it and enjoy or just hate it.

Never played the third one, but 2 was genuinely quite good, and probably more relevant to OP's bizarre criteria, it was incredibly influential at its time.
It figured out how to translate the single biggest cultural trend of its era into a very solid set of gameplay mechanics that were intuitive, not too far removed from the act of skateboarding, and had a lot of potential depth and fairly high skill celling.

For its time, for the insane obsession skateboarding was recieving in its era, for it's attempt to invent the systems very much from scratch, it was a huge thing. 3 was starting to fall to the "the same game but more" syndrome, but obviously, with how much of a smash hit 2 was, it was even more commercially successful.

You weren't alive when Portal 1 came out, have you? Portal was an absolutely insane phenomenon. Again, mostly for piloting concepts that haven't been done before, both in gameplay, and in tone and story.

Portal 2 may have polished and improved on the first game, but it was not even REMOTELY close to the insane and eventually, insufferable phenomenon that Portal 1 was. There is a reason why "the cake is a lie" became eventually a straight up stand-in for "way too overplayed and dumb quasi-nerdy humor".

Portal 2 was comparative a disappointment. It didn't really innovate or surprise in any way, and that was disappointing after Portal 1 came out and LITERALLY CHANGED THE INDUSTRY despite being a free novelty add-on randomly tacked onto Orange Box to make it seem less like a complete rip-off.

That is a pretty dumb grouping, since Tony Hawk games are more align with something like Need for Speed or perhaps Driver or Burnout Paradise, than it is to something like Fifa. It's not emulating the sport as an industry or practice, it's merely emulating the act of freestyling as a... form of "expression". You have a sandbox environment, finicky controls with a lot of space to learn, a bunch of humourous and over-the-top goals, and everything else is up to you, fuck around as much as you want.

Don't get me wrong: I'm not personally fond of these games. My brother fell into the skateboard trap, he played a lot of Tony Hawk, and being an impressionable kid, I played it a bit too, but never got really into it.

But I have seen enough for it to understand its appeal, and you bunching it with something like Fifa is really missing the point, it's like bunching up Guitar Hero with Idolmaster, because both revolve around music industry.

Yeah but the point here is that regardless of your (or mine) personal preference, Tony Hawk games used to be genuinely mechanically very solid. The alure of the idiotic skate culture, and the novelty may have worn off, but the core systems remain decent even today, and again: OP's criteria are surreal, entirely absurd and stupid, and one of them is about impact on release, so that further "explains" the inclusion of TH games.

I was going to point this out too, I think a top Vidya lists should condense/disqualify franchise entries that are similar mechanically, and sub-divide franchises if the gameplay changes a lot such as AC1-Syndicate being separate from RPG AC. I'm not going to convince you to change your mind, but out of my curiosity, why do you "heavily dislike" that game? That implies more than just not being able to get into it (which is fairly reasonable, it's pretty inaccessible, but then again many of the games on your list suggest you aren't stranger to jank and difficult stories).
