After 4chan was shut down for a few days this year, I realized that this place is shockingly the best place for discussion, or just any actual communication. Social media comment sections suck, youtube comments suck, reddit is awful and botted to hell, x/twitter is shit, I genuinely enjoy my time here more.

I try to quit but I'm mostly a /toy/fag and there's literally no good aggregate for toy news besides /toy/. You would just have to use like 8 specialized sites for specific toylines otherwise. Even reddit doesn't have an alternative, it's all too specialized.

And flame wars lose inertia when the thread dies. Compound that with Redditor's need to save face and always "win" and that's how you get chains of longform, disingenuous, rhetorical diatribes trying to filibuster the other person into giving up out of exhaustion. Nah, the few weeks this site was down you really got to take in how awful hobby discussion is elsewhere.
Video game discussion outside the site was just endless circle jerks, sports discussion is all tiny bubbles of homers and filled with boomers, movie discussion is filled with tasteless faggots, and anime discussion is filled with troons + hoodweebs.
