This is the most retarded fucking shitty system I've seen in my life
>but you can go to the options and do the old system
No they changed it that if you use the old system that it now does the online DRM check every time you boot up a game even on your primary console

It's awesome, what do you mean. My little nephew now has access to all my games on his Switch for free and vice-versa. All systems should have this for digital games.

It's DRM management that's designed to prevent one digital copy of a game being played on multiple systems simultaneously.
It used to be easy to bypass with putting your primary system into airplane mode, but it's more involved now.

Yeah it sucks and is confusing, I only just now finally wrapped my head around it. It was pretty poorly explained by Nintendo.

There is no "primary console" anymore, the primary console is whatever console the virtual game card is inserted in. The secondary console is the console without the virtual game card inserted. If your system does not have the virtual game card inserted it will do an internet check every time to make sure the other console isn't playing it.

I hate that this is something I have to actively manage and is not totally invisible, but the online license check does mitigate most of my issues with this nonsense.

My biggest pet peeve is that loading virtual game cards is cumbersome. There's an option in the software settings to "Check Virtual Game Card" and it will open a pop-up just to tell you whether or not it is loaded into the system but there is no option to load it immediately from that pop up, so you have to go into to the goddamn Virtual Game Card menu.

It is kind of neat that you can manage this shit from a browser, you can even redownload software from the virtual game card page.

>>715386317
I'm honestly surprised how many people were doing this and acting surprised when these loopholes are eventually closed. Playing software online on two systems with a single license was always on borrowed time.

I do not like this system. It only works if you have a family group. Which I don't. Also it's a pain in the ass to transfer bigger titles between systems.

why don't they just tie all of this stuff to digital accounts? Steam figured this shit out decades ago

It includes DLC. Your DLC even for physical games are limited to the system you loaded them onto, and will not be available on other systems until you connect the original system online to "unload" the DLC.

Do you fucking live together? Virtual game cards would be cool if you could share them with your family group members online, but you can't and can only share via proximity.

It's not a matter of figuring out, they know that already. They want you rebuying the same games over and over again for the rest of your life.

It is tied to your accuont. Do you even understand how the system works?
(reasonable if you don't bc nintendo decided to make it ultra confusing)

so just have all your virtual game cards on one system and then it's effectively like the old primary system with no checks on that system
what's the issue

Because of the Switch 2. A ton of people suddenly got access to a second console. This system is there to prevent you from accessing your own games in multiple places at once, such as when you give that first Switch to someone else. It's also intentionally not future proof due to it all being online, so eventually they can shut down this service and lock you out of your own games.

Well, shills were right, it is optional, you just have to be always connected to internet until you give up.
Anonymous No.715389405 [Report]
I don't understand what's so difficult about it
>get together with a friend once in person to "link" the systems
>can then lend them any digital game at any time
>if you ever need it back there's an option to instantly cancel the lending
I've been using it with a couple friends and haven't had any issue.

The death of physical on pc is a whole other thing than physical and digital on consoles. PCs have none of the downsides consoles do on this issue and if anything physical used to be total ass on there before steam, with some really shitty drm and activation limits. The reason why physical matters on console is because it's the only shred of control/ownership users have. Whereas on pc digital is just pure convenience, as it should be.

Its the opposite retard. The old way let you have the same game on multiple consoles but it would make the non main account go online everytime you started the game to make sure the main account wasn't playing it at the same time which made it a pain in the ass to switch games when traveling. Its still dumb that you have to be physically present to lend games with your family group. If i could share online with my group i would gift subs with /v/ to share games with

I mean, that's fine if you do, but valve didn't kill physical on pc, nobody is stopping anyone from making physical games for pc. The consumers killed it because they didn't want it, digital is way more convenient and a lot of people have fuckhuge libraries on pc that would fill up rooms of their house and would be far more expensive.
Even on consoles and all their scumminess and zero control, consumers don't want it. They're willing to give up their only bit of control for that convenience.
