Saturn had all the great arcade games, dude. Holds up a lot better than PS1.

>Had a Sega
>Video game magazine
>Advertising the Saturn
>BEG MOM
>Do all the chores and good grades and yadda yadda
>Go to Target to get one
>The dude behind the desk says "I dunno if you want that one. Get the Playstation."
>Never even heard of it
>He takes me over to the game case and just gestures. Tons of PS games and barely half a case of Saturn games
>Get the PS instead
>No regrets
Kinda wish I could send that dude a thank you card. I might have ended up not playing games and having friends and sex in high school.

if we're talking about owning one today, just buy a jp saturn. especially when considering game cost, it's cheaper than a us saturn anyway.

There were like four decent Saturn games that got released in English. And the same was more or less true of the Dreamcast. Which probably could have held its own if only it played DVDs and used DVD media.

Yes but good luck finding them. I had a saturn when it was new and it was a pain in the ass to fin games for it. All the retailers near me had psp/vita sized shelf space for the games and it shrunk every month. I never saw Guardian Heroes, Burning Rangers, or Shining Force 3 for sale even though I always saw them in magazines. I had to wait until yearly comic conventions to see if any video games were up for sale

Had a Saturn and a Playstation. Loved my collection for both of them. Then Hurricane Irma destroyed both of them.

Why do you always turn up in Sega threads and insist on your weird revisionist history about the Dreamcast? No one else on Earth thinks the one Achilles heel of that console above all else was the inability to play DVDS.

Every single game that's available for both the PS1 and the Saturn is also better on the Saturn.

it certainly could've played a factor in its legacy among casuals, how many people today still use their ps4/5s as glorified rokus?

yeah definitely missed a bullet.
the saturn is a retro gem nowadays, but back then it missed out on too many big hit multiplats to be a viable all in one system
