I just did the first not-Solid Snake fight and so far it's just more of the first game. It's Death Stranding 1.5 that took 6 years to make and the social media hype machine promotes it for a week or two claiming it's the greatest game ever made and now they are moving on to next product.

Beat it today. Ending sequence was kind of dumb but also pure kino. I just wish they didn't lock you into endgame via disabling the Magellen so early. You're barely introduced to the last quarter of the map before it rushes to the conclusion. I wanted one clear moment of "you've got the full map unlocked, now do all the side stuff you want before the big ending sequence", now that Im in postgame all the combat upgrades seem pointless

That said, the game is rather sandboxy, so just do whatever you feel like. If you want to make deliveries to upgrade facilities to 5 stars, then do that. If you want to do build roads and monorails, then do that. If you want to push on with the main story, then do that.

Director's Cut was an updated version primarily made for the PS5 in September 2021 and came to PC in March 2022.

This is why I made sure to 100% DS1 before DS2 launched. Got all cheevos, all 540 deliveries LoLoL'd, and did all the weekly challenges. That way I could safely put it aside for DS2 and never feel a need to go back to it.

What's everybody's usual backpack setup? There's a lot of useful stuff but I normally just end up with a large ammo clip v2, some grenade pouches, that gizmo that reduces weight, and a couple of mini-batteries to fill up all the empty spaces. I wish I could slot in one of those stabilizers, but they're just so huge.

Death stranding was my goty that year and frankly game of the decade behind Bloodborne for me. This game ruins everything I liked about the firs unless I intentionally limit myself. And it changes but the story is just copying all of the same beats and structure as the first. Feels like the first safe kojimbo game. Like he let the criticisms of too many cutscenes and the walking aim memes get to him and made a game for people who didn't like DS1 at the expense of those who loved it. Ever since 4 was 90% cuts er Kojima has ironically ruined his games, most notably MGSV, by NOT HAVING MORE cutscenes. To be fair, MGS4 was bullshit and chapter 3 is LITERALLY a movie. An hour and a half cutscene with 5 mins gameplay. And half of that 5 mins is an interactive cutscene itself on a motorcycle. Death Stranding 1 had an hour long cutscene at the start and like fucking 3 hrs at the end but beyond that was sparse and needed way more IMHO. Just got platinum. Compared to DS1, much better gameplay, story, QoL, but also feels too streamlined and a bit boring. Mr Impossible's final challenge exemplifies this, where 25+ minutes is just driving from F7 around to the start of the map.

They reuse the whale, giant humanoid BT, 3 lions, etc as bosses for various optional orders. You get the ability to capture BT bosses and summon them against BT bosses, so you can mostly cheese them with BT summons and tons of rockets.
