Waiting for the 2. Shit's too experimental. Battery life needs improving, and too many games don't support it properly. Thing is like Game Gear on roids.

Also needs better support for other platforms. if steam makes me have to log into Ubi or Rockstar to play my games, then they should allow those on the deck.

I use them not infrequently. They turn entire genres like ANY turn-based strategy game from a pain to pretty good. 4X games like Civ make a particularly good fit for the steam deck and just suck on any of the competitors.
Plus just other random shit. Lately I've been playing loads of Path of Achra for example, and the mouse is pretty vital there. Hybrid mouse/controller inputs also work pretty well in some games like Stardew Valley.

How much of your library has hold or above rating on protonDB? Indie games? Will run most of them for decades. 7gen native ports? Easily, for the most part. And so on.

Depends on how much you care about the latest releases. The number of games the deck can't play is small and it will continue to get loads of games and support even after the deck 2 comes out. So if you want it for stuff that's already out, get a deck 1. If you mainly want to play the latest games on it, wait a year or two for the deck 2.

IMO, I want a smaller Deck 2, essentially a "Deck Mini" that is just small enough to fit in my pocket than a "Deck Pro" that might be able to play a few current and future AAA games but that will most likely burn through battery faster than the LCD Deck.

I want a more portable-portable with the same performance more than I want more performance that can just be beaten by pretty much any gaymin device that isn't restricted to the same form factor and price.

Lossless Scaling works on Deck now, really great if you want to push the performance limits of the console or just want to squeak out some more battery life

Valve is waiting for AMD's UDNA multi-chiplet microarchitecture to arrive and then will develop the Deck 2 with it.

That will likely net a solid 50%+ increase in power while also probably increasing batter life and keeping costs stable.

Don't use that plugin or his settings

This is why I hate Linux.
>Dev 1 makes something that works in [Use case]
>Dev 2 forks Dev 1's work so it can work with [Use case #2]
>Dev 1 gets ass mad because he wasn't consulted
>Publicly sabotages Dev 2's work

I'm aware Lossless Scaling is meant to work with Windows, but this shit happens all the fucking time.

I'm so sick of the drams coming from dev communities.
Bunch of touch-starved motherfuckers trying to make up for the lost highschool experience they missed
Pathetic

This is a huge overreaction.

Pretty much every game you’d want to play released prior to 2025 is completely functional, and the rare cases when you need to tinker is usually something like manually changing the resolution or selecting a community control layout.

The reason the Deck is preferred over the more powerful windows handhelds is the fact that shit just works. It’s basically like having a PlayStation or Xbox.

Both things work fine, it's just that the plugin dev recommended bad settings. Heaven forbid you have to exercise common sense or read.
