The big reason Jensen likes AI generated frames is because he likes ray tracing and really cool graphical simulations like fluid and physics stuff. But to do that stuff normally it's hard, but with AI it becomes a lot easier.

In the future AI will generated/render way more stuff too, like they showed off faces that are coming soon. And Nvidia has been working on animations for years.

In probably like 10 years or whenever, games will run like 50x faster than they do today while looking 50x better simultaneously. They'll fix the smearing shit too because that's just a latency problem.

I can't do it well but I'll try with a thinking exercise.

So yeah how long would it take you to animate this traditionally? It would probably take you fucking forever even if you knew exactly what you were doing, I personally don't think I've seen a hand made animation like this before. And meanwhile AI generated it in minutes(or seconds potentially).
Now imagine when they figure out how to generate/render(generender?) it in real-time for game use. That's what Nvidia is talking about. Where you can just open unreal and make a blue sheet and say(this is cool water :DDD) and AI turns it into Nice Water with 90% realistic simulation effects and it runs with like 1fps hit. AI used in this way will make developing games infinitely easier and cheaper as well as making it easier to run them. We can see this with their latest DLSS and how it does ray tracing so well.

I know /v/ hates the smearing and shit, but that will get fixed. That latest version is already miles better than the last one.

Also another point in favor of AI generation is that it will let games get a lot close to real photorealism and not the laughable hand made attempts we've seen so far. And countless other styles we haven't seen rendered too.

>>715427130
You can consistently render something in a given style, you think you can't because you've only used online tools that don't give you full control. And obviously things will get increasingly consistent as there is progress.

Anon, video games have barely moved forward graphically in the past ten years AND they run worse on top of everything on much more expensive hardware. AI is not helping, technologies like raytracing are only makign them perform even more dogshit and it's not feasible or well implemented in most games at all. This is pure hype nonsense. Games graphics are stagnating and companies out of business trying to eke out just slightly more graphical fidelity for very little in the way of returns. People want fun gameplay, not AI generated slop.

Yes, just like many of the investors at Nintendo don't actually know jack shit about how video games are made. They just like it when Nintendo makes more money, which is why they're investors. Jensen is a spokesperson for Nvidia. He is the hypeman. He is there to encourage people to invest in Nvidia, and he does a good job of it. He does not know JACK shit about video games because he's never developed one. He is a salesman trying to push meme technology like Gaytracing and Frame Generation. Nothign that's actually made gaming better in any noticeable way.

For a HUGE performance cost in which you have to use meme technology like frame generation even on the strongest 4090/5090 builds. There are arguably two games that even implement ray tracing well, Cyberpunk being the only real standout.

Jensen is not a game developer. What makes you think he knows anything about game development or how a game works? He's an Nvidia shill. That is it. He's never made a game in his life.

your analogy is flawed because a renderer is typically doing much more work than a transformer (AI-gen).
it's more like the renderer is drawing on the spot and the transformer is photoshopping on the spot.

anyone who works with ai and/or has at leas a remote understanding of how most of it works knows that it's all a fad, it's hard to even call ai a tool, because of how inconsistent it is, it is helpful in many cases, but saying shit like "ai will generate *whole thing*" is bullshit, it may generate parts, and even then there will have to be someone who will have to curate it, besides any program, be it videogame, some office utility, management tools, whatever it is, is so complicated and requires so much attention that a prompt to describe all of its aspects would probably take more effort than actually writing the code, I dare you, go and try to make game using ai, you will quickly find out how futile of a task it is

AI is like ask jeeves-tier usefulness, even then it gets shit wrong because nothing it writes out is deterministic. it doesn't even exist until its written out so it can be off with a handful of words without you knowing unless you're super critical about its output, which most people aren't.

doing this for a game would just be a pain because you'd have to fix all its mistakes, at which point you'd be better off just making stuff the old fashioned way.
