What are you currently playing? Are you looking forward to any games?

>>715437148 (OP)>What are you currently playing? Finally getting around to finishing Baldur's Gate SoA for the first time, took down Kangaxx last night. Also been playing through the Tomb Raider series, those games are fucking excellent.
>Are you looking forward to any games? No, I really don't expect good games to get made ever again. The last game that I thought was truly great was Hi-Fi Rush and now that studio is dead. Nothing else looks interesting, just DEIslop, coomerslop, and pale imitations of long-dead franchises.
>>715437148 (OP)just finished new poe league

>>715437148 (OP)Currently playing Breath of the wild for the first time. It's ok. Not bad not masterpiecy. It feels like eating a cake or watching a series : I know I will never play it again and just enjoy exploring areas.
Looking forward to absolutely nothing. Maybe a DLC of Mario kart world but that's it.
To be honest it's a good thing video games died, I can spend more time on different hobbies
>>715437148 (OP)Backpack Battles between bouts of Valheim, with Squeakross: Home Squeak Home as an honorable mention.
Bing Bing Banana looks like a good time, and Lumines Arise is already my GOTY.
>>715437148 (OP)Nope, I have no faith in video games. The last two games I wanted to give a chance was Sparking Zero and Dragon's Dogma 2 and these two games disappointed me.

GameCube ChoroQ arcade game. It's good.

>>715439153Got the job (wagie) got a house (lucked out) own a car. Even pursuing higher education at the moment. I'm almost 40 and I've only been in one short relationship. It was unpleasant outside of the sex and a few good days. I don't want to do it again. I think I should just cut my loses and be happy with what I do have. After all, it's basically impossible to buy a house nowadays and live outside of the paycheck to paycheck grind. Messing that up would be like asking the universe to fuck me. Nah... no wife.

Finished Mad Max yesterday, it was ok, the story felt like an afterthought tho, collecting scrap, dismantling camps and destroying hidden insignias was autistically fun until I got burned out.
I bought some games from the current eshop sale like Bakeru, FF XII, Chocobo GP and Ys IX: Monstrum Nox and used physical copies of the Splinter Cell games that are delisted on the Xbox store so I can play them via backwards compatibility
Currently playing Avowed and Silent Hill Downpour on Xbox Series X, Persona 4 Golden and Lost Ruins on Switch, and Yakuza: Pirates in Hawaii on PS5.
Looking forward to Silent Hill f and Wuchang Fallen Feathers

>>715437148 (OP)>What are you currently playing? I'm wageslaving right now, but I spent the weekend jumping between Rimworld with Odyssey and TCG Card Simulator.
Been playing a lot open world stuff or games with endless loops. While comfy, I don't feel a sense of progress. So I might go through my backlog and find some semi-short linear game to play for a bit.
>Are you looking forward to any games?I'm curious to see if Square and salvage FFXIV when the new patch drops next month.

Mostly looking forward to debian update in august/september so I can play some newer games, like Rogue Trader etc.
Sacred
The Punisher
They both suck.
FlatOut 2 with my kid, they both rock.
>>715440871That sounds comfy

>>715437148 (OP)Playing Yakuza 3.
>>715440989I fail to see how a Debian update would influence what games you can play.

>Are you looking forward to any games?Cairn, a game about climbing a mountain, featuring an annoying ugly sassy mystery meat female as main character, but gameplay is really good.

>>715442027>legendary editionLightning is completely fucked there
>>715441839There's no need for a remake the current remaster is perfectly fine.
>>715442027I didn't mind it but they did change the way Horizon looks, so it matches with the ME3 DLC. It's minor issues and the remaster is perfectly fine. It's just missing ME3 MP which was the best part
>>715437148 (OP)>35Helldivers 2 and Palworld
>>715437148 (OP)Replayed SMT Nocturne for the first time in over 15 years. Game is as soulful as I remembered but man I dont know how the fuck I managed to get past some of the later teleport puzzle maps in the final dungeon by myself when I was younger. I must have used a guide but I don't remember doing so maybe it was just trial and error and I just had way more time on my hands back then.
Trying to decide now whether to move onto SMTV Vegeance since I've had it since launch but never played it or to complete every achievement since the HD remaster has those now. Beating the game 6 times seems like a massive chore to be honest but I know if I don't do it, I'll never get around to it
>>715437148 (OP)33
Sunset overdrive and steam world dig.
Former is alright but I really dislike having to go out of my way to get collectibles to unlock powers. The former is pretty fun in short bursts
Looking forward to persona 4 remake
Finishing up the rune factory weeaboo endgame then I'm probably going to play one klanoa game before going to the lisa series. After that who knows because i bought a bunch of games on sale and have too many to play.
>>715437148 (OP)>What are you currently playing?I played Metal Garden yesterday, next game will probably be Rez Infinite. After that my backlog and completed stack will be the same size, so I'm banning myself from games for a bit until I do something significantly productive.
>Are you looking forward to any games? Not particularly. I've got my wishlists to tell me if a few titles release, but even then I've got so many games I'm in no hurry to add more
>>7154417182 years, debian trixie will have wine 10. It's possible to update right now but I'm waiting for release.
>>715442363Good choice. I recently beat nocturne hd with quality of death pack and am making my way through the 3ds smts. Vv made me fall in love with smt all over again
>>715442630Damn. I'm not certain how wine likes to do its verrsion numbering but being 2 major versions behind is a lot even for debian.
>>715437148 (OP)Morrowind (yes cliche I know). I was having fun with Tainted Grail but it just made me want to play TES.
>>715437148 (OP)Playing Starsector and trying to avoid the coffee and nicotine jew
>>715437148 (OP)>What are you currently playing?Finished Marvel Midnight Suns, rough start but it grew on me. Plan to go for the Oblivion remake next
>Are you looking forward to any games?WoW: Midnight
>>715442967Well, that's debian, it gets a bit outdated before every major release, but for me "set and forget" is more important than some newer packages... It's not that big deal most of the time and many newer games will actually work but with some stupid issues, like freezing on alt tab, issues while recording screen etc. I don't care much honestly, there's always something in my backlog worth playing.

>>715443617I'm the opposite. The idea of my fun being dependent on other people repels me
>>715443617No, its the exact other way for me. I stopped playing competitive games entirely and are all about singleplayer now
>>715443617No, I feel the opposite way
Single player games are the only thing worth playing
I like a nice focused experience, and online multiplayer usually means playing with a bunch of sweaty try hards who are all abusing the same tired meta strategies making the gameplay dull and unvaried
>>715443617Yes. Maybe it's my lizard brain trying to tell me that I'm running out of time but hard game still go because the brain is getting fooled that it is working towards something..
Playing UFO 50, looking forward to DQ 1/2 HD Remake. Going to play FF7 Rebirth and LAD Infinite Wealther soemtiem but I dunno when since they are long kek, maybe FF7 soon though.
>>715443495Wouldn't you usually just run your games with proton? That's mostly what I do even with games from GOG.

I compulsively play Helldivers 2 when Iām bored, which is a habit I need to break since Iām 250/250 Medals and donāt need to play until Control Group drops on Thursday.
The big game Iāve been looking to get into is Total Warhammer 3, since I got it during the Steam sale and have all the DLCs unlocked with Creampie. Hereās the humdinger though; Iāve been bouncing off the gameplay repeatedly. Itās not like I hate the game, but I keep trying factions that donāt click for the long haul. Any advice on factions to play? I was thinking Tyrion since Ulthuan has natural borders to conquer and the gameplay of āshoot them with arrows until they dieā is easy. But maybe Greenskins or Empire are good too.
>>715437148 (OP)>Currently playingInfra. I love it because this is basically Half-Life without enemies and urban exploration instead of aliens and secret bases. But holy fuck is it a long game, I thought this would be 6 hours at most but I'm on 30 and still nowhere near done. It doesn't help the puzzles are tough and there's a bunch of secret shit.
>Looking forward to any gamesNot really. Once Infra is done I'm going to play the System Shock 2 remaster but that's an old game with a new coat of paint. Most modern games are pure garbage, but maybe something will come out and surprise me soon. I know Elden Ring did a few years back. I honestly expected a shit game, but it was easily game of the decade for me.
>>715437148 (OP)FF7 rebirth, enjoying a lot.
Looking forward Death Stranding 2 and whatever From releases next.
>>715437148 (OP)Finished both Chronicles of the Wolf and FFVI Pixel Remaster last week. I'm currently catching up on Doom WADs from the last few months until I decide what to play next.
Looking at the rest of 2025, there isn't really anything I'm looking forward to. I'll do a Terraria playthrough with my son once the new patch is released but otherwise it looks like I will focus on my drawing / painting a bit more for a while.
>>715444167Iām 35 and an engineer in Ohio, by the way. I spend most of my free time on carpentry or the garden, and home ownership is a constant time waster. I was about to dump $300 on a new sump pump until I crawled down there and cleaned out the silt keeping the old one from running automatic.

cautiously optimistic about MGS3 Delta.
>>715443824I prefer to use packages from debian stable repos when possible, so my lutris is 6 versions behind current lol. I'll make some changes once debian 13 is released.
>>715444403if you insist on playing games on a server distro you might want to use flatpak. You'll still have the system stability but the latest patches to game shit
>>715444403Damn thats quite a few versions. I personally don't have lutris installed because I can't be arsed to compile gtk-webkit.
>>715444505Don't need it, few programs I need newer versions of are available as appimages, like gimp, inkscape etc. Fuck computers anyway.
>>715443857Anon, 4chan is one of the last remaining sites of the second era of the internet and has largely stayed the same the entire time it has been around. The rest of the internet has become a performative hugbox where people can't actually say what they mean and they compete for invisible / useless karma, upvotes, likes, clown awards, etc...
Does 4chan have an endless amount of shit in it? Absolutely and it always did, but you learn to skip past all of that and you can still find lots of genuine content, opinions and information about just about anything you can think of. /v/ has brought so many incredible games to my attention over the years that it has more than earned its place.
>>715443857Get ready to kill yourself then - you're here forever.

>>715443857Seriously, why are there so many old people replying to this post? It's a copy pasta and I always assumed that most of the posters here would have seen it once already. It's the 3rd time and if I saw myself replying to this post unironically once more I would kill myself
Finished Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers yesterday.
Playing The Return of the King now. A much better game.
Also Playing No Man's Sky. The game keeps pulling me back because of the main mission rewards.
>>715439153Got it all, itās nice but I didnāt stopped liking the thing I liked before because of it.
>>715445210No Manās Sky is the bing bing wahoo of resource extraction games. Fail States are impossible and the game has the depth of a puddle, but good lord is it not fun hopping across that puddle to experience all the things they put into it.

Definitely having more sex with the wife than gaming. Honestly I'd play something that requires real hours like classic wow but I can't help it, I'm tired all the time. >>715437148 (OP)Beat OG Silent Hill 2 yesterday. Never had a chance to play it when it was new. It was pretty fucking good ngl. I'll recommend not listening to anyone's interpretation of it. The vagueness is the point.
>What are you currently playing?
Replaying Aria of Sorrow. Still my favorite Igavania no matter how many times I play it. Also played some Gunstar Heroes with my son earlier, on my old Genesis. He's gotten a bit of an interest in them since watching me play through Chrono Trigger.
>Are you looking forward to any games?
Super Robot Wars Y in August, The Scramble Vice whenever that comes out. It's already out but once my must-have mods are up to date I'll be grabbing the new Rimworld expansion, too. I'm looking forward to building a ship city and using it to rapidly deploy armored vehicle squads against tribal villages.
Anybody else find it really difficult to get enjoyment out of Vidya past their late 20's and early 30's? I almost always have to force myself to play something instead of me naturally wanting to boot a game up.
>>715455142even though its easier to cheese nioh it's annoying tapping shoulder buttons for the ki regen timing mechanic, it's not hard but always having to be aware of it makes it annoying to play imo

>I don't really listen to metal but I liked the OST>The final boss is actually a true boss fight that's engaging and challenging, no QTE nonsense>There is a decent amount of enemy variety, at least 1 new enemy per level>The rhythm system not only gives you more damage, but is also needed for the doom style executions. It pairs with the OST as well so that the higher your multiplier the more layers the background tracks have (e.g. to get vocals you need to be at the maximum multiplier, at the lowest level you just get a base beat)>Each level has 3 challenge stages, completing these gives you levels in perks that you can then equip. You can have 2 at a time. The perks themselves are fairly basic but useful (e.g. have a minimum score multiplier or get shots every time you switch weapons without needing to reload)>You can dash and jump around a lot. Dashing on the beat helps prevent the multiplier going down>The story wasn't crazy but there was a fun twist at the endBAD
>There are only 8 stages so you can finish the game in 2 hours if you skip the challenges>Enemy hitboxes felt annoyingly large, you are probably going to get hit by things you thought you dodged>Executions have a cooldown if you miss the beat, which then fucks up your timing even more>Some of the enemy types are just fucking annoying>There are only 4 weapons (not counting the starting pistol and sword), you can only have 2 of them at a time (again not including the starting pistol and sword)>Enemy spawn placement is pre-baked, so the game has no problem spawning a bunch of shit right in your face during the numerous "the door is locked and you have to kill all the bad guys" sections>Did I mention there are only like 4 weapons and 8 levels?MENTIONING BECAUSE THIS IS /V/
>There are 3 characters, 2 of them are women>If you are good at the rhythm system the game is very easyI had a decent time, if you buy you can see 65% of the game and then refund if you don't like it.

>>715461507They really ought to put in a game mode of 1st person only. They put in rotation sometimes different game modes on the left, like the 20v20 tdm or archer only/peasant only.
I dont mind anyone playing in 3rd person, and I dont think spamming crouch does much. I reactively crouch in certain situations where I have a decent chance of ducking under a horizontal after they guard break me and theres 0 other options.

>>715468302Why would you build a PC you have no intention of using?
>>715468136I definitely hated the first one, which is why I was so confused when 2 came out and people loved it. I decided I probably got filtered so actually sat down to play 2. Got through tons of side quests (still havnt gone to the wedding yet) and made tons of money selling potions. Am okay at combat now. Beautiful looking world but I still prefer arcade fun over realism nonsense.
>>715437148 (OP)Wife and I play Vermintide when the baby is asleep.
>>715468323Third person just shouldn't be in the game because it's gay metagaming for lala homoboys that want to see behind themselves. It's easy to tell when someone's doing it because they'll randomly drag a swing 180 degrees behind them. If you're going to jump into a fray, then you either have a friend with you or your back should be exposed. Crouching just seems like gay tryhard stuff. I don't mean ducking a horizontal swing, I mean the people who spam it.
>>715437148 (OP)>What are you currently playing? I finished playing palworld and right now I'm not playing anything, I downloaded this game called dungeon drafter I'll try it out today.
>Are you looking forward to any games? Not looking forward to anything in specific, maybe that new inazuma eleven game, Digimon time stranger and bloodstained 2.
I'm in a bit of a drought.
>>715437148 (OP)>What are you currently playing?I queue Counter Strike and say slurs, it makes zoomers seethe uncontrollably.
I'm ashamed to admit that Crash Bandicoot is kicking my butt. Maybe it's because I never played before a platformer like it, but I started to struggle by the time I reached the big jungle fort level and the kangaroo.
>>715469293My only experience with Crash was playing it a bit at one of these ancient vidya kiosks at malls. I was a Nintendo kiddie for the longest game and when I got a PS1, it was only to play Digimon and Monster Rancher.
>>715468673I dont know about dragging that far, but im pretty good at fighting multiple people. A skilled player among them will delay attacks to fuck me up but against the average person I can engage 3-5 people as long as they are generally infront of me or to left and right side. My footwork usually means the person on the front left attacks first, and I'll parry multiple incoming hits from left to right as I drag across. Dont need to necessarily parry every incoming blow, but you do need to do it often enough to extend the invulnerability window of the blue parry. Getting flanked often is the death sentence for me, because you cant turn and block two incoming blows at the same time. However, if a blow from the front happens, then a pause, then the guy behind you attacks, you often have time to turn and parry him. So in a 2v1 i can still sometimes live in that situation.

I started the redux romhack for 7th saga last night
AC6 is really cool but I don't think the combat fully clicked with me yet, I still feel like I'm just completely winging it and getting lucky.
Uma is surprisingly addicting and races get my heart pumping like a horror game
I played 7th saga years ago when testing emulation on my PS3 and ended up playing it for like 4 hours, I never beat it though. I don't know what it is about that game but it's the only JRPG I've played that has given me the feeling of being on an adventure.
Death Stranding 2 making sure to five star every location before I progress too far. Everytime I think I want to rebuild roads the Magellan eats shit and Im not driving all that stuff from the mines.

>>715471817Deltatr00n is pretty good, great soundtrack, would be even better if Noelle didn't exist, what an annoying character, can't wait for her to disappear everytime she's on screen. I really hope Toby doesn't let her have Susie that'd be the cringiest shit ever
>>715471975I just like those early 90/2000 vibes of hanging out with friends like in Goonies. No starbucks or big cities or modern smartphones shit and emojis, just small town and adventures in Alice Wonderland shit
>>715443857It's zoomers larping as old people
>>715469534I'm also a fan of fighting large groups at once. I use the iframes on parry (because one guy will always just horizontal swing which is easy to counter) and then plow through all of them. Big swords like highlander are also good because you can backpedal out of their reach and still hit them. Sounds like you play similarly.
Been going through some fun ball games recently. Was always a fan of the simple joy of playing as a ball. Something about using physics to get through an obstacle course is just appealing.
Beat Super Monkey Ball on Expert, but didn't make it through the Master levels. That shit's fucked up. Played through the story mode in SMB2.
Replayed Within a Deep Forest for the first time in like 10 years and it holds up pretty well for a freeware game from 2006. Playing through Knytt Underground as it is at least half ball game.
As for new titles, Exo One and Crumble are both modern ball games more build around speed, which is fun. Both are very short, but I liked them.
Exo One was a very comfy, pretty game that let you go at some insane speeds.
Crumble was lighthearted and more challenging, but seems the speed cap is far lower, which is a shame. More involved platforming though.

I've spent the last few years playing older games I missed when I was younger. Some notable ones that I really enjoyed: Gothic I and II, Might & Magic 6, Lands of Lore 2, Bully, Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, and Shadow Man. I played a bunch of other ones too that I bounced off of, but mostly I haven't played a modern AAA game in years.
So I decided to try Ghost of Tsushima. It seems to be lauded everywhere, even here. I feel mixed about it. The environmental art direction is fantastic... I just wish the world was worth exploring. The storylines and characters are so insanely dull I can't believe this game wasn't laughed at for the writing and voice acting. It's worse than the worst fan fiction... but then again that's the quality of modern fiction writing in books too these days. On the plus side I found the combat to be really fun and feel good to play, but the stealth felt lame and too easy.
Overall it's crazy how much more polished and normalized game controls and interactions are. Cameras work perfectly, animations flow across the environment, interactions are simple and intuitive. The level design really effectively communicates where to go and what you can climb on. There is so much jank that we've left behind moving into modern games... but we also left behind a ton of spirit, intelligence and creativity in the mass market homogenization of safe games for 80 IQ couch potatoes.
>>715473392I have my first baby due in 6 weeks... I think I'm just going to buy a bunch of books to read because I hear I'm going to have zero free time for the next few months.

>>715474335You have female genes in your body, so technically a girl touches your penis every time you masturbate.
Otherwise, masturbation would be gay.
>>715468136Playing the first Kingdom Come started out fairly boring. I was following the rules, trying to get some money together and stop being a bitch who couldn't fight or do anything. Eventually I started being able to kill guys in sword fights, sneak around and shoot arrows. At some point I was doing a quest about some poor girl whose parents died and her guardians basically treated her like a slave and eventually sold her off to the grave keeper or something. I thought it was fucked up what they did...
So one night I decide to sneak up to their house, and it happens to be raining and storming. I sneak into their house, and I had just unlocked the "kill them in their bed perk" and stabbed both parents to death in their sleep, then robbed all their shit. It felt really satisfying to be able to bring some vengeance against quest connected NPCs totally outside of the storyline.
There are other cool details, like I wanted to rob a wealthy guy in town so I snuck into his house and knocked him out while he was sleeping (so that he wouldn't wake up while I picked the locks on his chests). The next day after robbing him I thought I'd check him out and he was acting all groggy and fucked up saying he didn't remember what happened to him. Cool details!
It's too bad KCD2 went woke. I refuse to buy shit that pretends Africans and Arabs were "enlightened" and anything more than savage mongrels in medieval times (like they are today).

Now it will go down in history as a tech demo, which is kind of a meta joke within the game itself. I'm unsure of whether VR will make a comeback at this stage. There's still potential for that to be the case, it's all down to how triple A spend money in the medium. If they're willing to dedicate A teams instead of B or C teams to new projects. Or it could be possible that the industry right now lacks the same talent Valve had at their disposal. If it were to fail it's because the only part of the equation is the lack of developers who are capable of designing the games. For now there is UEVR to turn flat games into VR. Which is not too bad depending on the game.
