The bell's already been rung. And they've heard it... out in the dark, among the stars. Ding dong, the God is dead.

can't play a soulslike without the xbox elite now. i really just need one paddle to hold b down and that's it. being able to move while you look around given the camera is always so bad is a godsend. k+m isn't really a solution to the real estate issue as your entire right (or left) hand is taken up just for looking around. that's aside from the fact that the games were made to be played with a controller.

no it's mostly
A) poorfags that can't afford additional back buttons/paddles for their controller to avoid giving themselves carpal tunnel
B) kinda overlaps with the previous group but autistic FPS trannies because some sloptuber showed them this shit

It's so you can press face buttons without letting go of the analogue stick. It's something that happens in some games, probably issue of bad camera controls or putting shit you need to aim on wrong buttons.

This is why back buttons are goated. Can press whatever you need without taking your thumbs off the joysticks.

I use both, it just depends on the game. Does everyone not do this? Kbm works on consoles these days too without any hassle.

You don't need to constantly adjust the camera after you lock on, why do you need a thumb on the right stick?

Souls games needing claw grip is merely a fault of Sony of North America forcing Japanese developers to change the button mapping to have the Cross button as the confirmation key, instead of the circle buttom. It makes no sense to use the circle button to sprint.

I can't believe it took this long for additional back buttons to be normalized. It's been free real estate this whole time.

M+KB is pretty much always the better choice in any game that offers it
Half of the time when it isnt its just because the devs fucked the control mappings or introduced bugs with inputs
Most games people SWEAR by to use a controller dont even fucking use the 2nd analog stick to do anything unique.

Controllers are just extra bing bing wahoo hardware to sell to hobbyists with the promise it will better their experience, there is a massive incentive to pretend games are "better experienced" using a controller instead of M+KB. Ive even played games where the developer has put a message that "it is the intended experience", but after trying both ive realized the controller is just a gimmick (Rain World, Outer Wilds)

Games are also incredibly limited by the controller inputs, because they are so limited, most games with "skills" end up having extremely limited availability for them:
>Dragons Dogma
>Dark Souls (Lmao at using arrows to switch spells, what a design cope)
...basically any RPG for consoles will be extremely limited like this and then theres the fucking CONSOLE INVENTORY SYSTEM UI which creeps into every fucking PC game aswell just because controllers are supported

I should know better than to reply to a garbage thread like this but this is just too retarded. The games all initially released on consoles so yes they are designed for a controller and that's what Japanese people use there. You can use whatever you want but if you're playing a Japanese game, there's an extremely high chance that it was developed with controller input in mind. Also you don't need to claw for any Souls game, the only instance where clawing might be useful is for something like Armored Core but even then it's not necessary.
