I finished the free demo last week, took a break, and now I'm gonna start Chapter 3 after buying the game. I'm planning on getting the egg and doing the hidden boss fight/sword route, I didn't do snowgrave if that effects anything.
Is there anything I should be careful about? Things that could lock me out of paths or whatnot? Because I heard CH3 has some fuckery that can cause you get locked out of finding secrets.

Have you been doing the optional bosses for the shadow crystals? If so, then without spoilering anything you just need to do well in Chapter 3 in order to get the rare item that makes the fight easier. You'll know what I mean when you play it.

Also make sure to get the egg BEFORE fighting the bonus boss. Beating that boss locks you out of accessing the egg room.

A guy at the beginning of chapter 3 will tell you ranks don't matter and just have fun. That's a blatant lie, chapter 3 has the most fomo inducing mechanics.

She built the Mettaton body for Happstablook first and claimed, at Mettaton's insistence, that she had built a robot with a Soul because Mettaton didn't want anyone to know he was really Happstablook. Asgore caught wind of this and asked her to become Royal Scientist due to being the only monster with any idea of how Souls work, something she couldn't bring herself to deny even to the King.
