If anyone's still here who wants to know if you need to read the manga or anime before playing, here's all you need to know:
>It covers up to Chapter 100 of the manga, which is about halfway through Episode 36 (S2 E11) of the anime.
>After the intro cutscene, there's an out-of-nowhere recap of most of the game with a short gameplay segment from a later level, and then it goes into the actual start of the story.
>There's also a postgame crossover story with Fairy Tail, which also has a cameo for a character from season 2.

TL;DR: You're all good if you want to jump in blind, just skip the recap sections at the start if you don't want to be spoiled.

My PC gets 60 locked max settings at 1440p when doing the main story, but it's tough to maintain 60 in the open world. Unreal Engine is not great with open worlds and I don't expect this of all games to optimize for it.
It runs like an acceptable Switch 1 game on my Steam Deck at medium settings which is great for doing some side quests.

As someone who is choosy about buying games, it's very difficult to justify buying this for $60. I haven't seen a ton of gameplay, but the combat does not look particularly exciting, and the graphics are not impressive. In all honesty, they are pretty bad. Some of the design choices are great, like the art style and character design, but the models themselves look outdated and the environments look boring and uninspired. The idea of the main incentive being unlocking lots of new outfits for the girls is a very good decision, and it seems to be well-implemented in the sense that the outfits are actually cute and sexy, and thus worth unlocking. I'm quite impressed with the variety and quality of what I've seen so far. But it's very unfortunate that you have to put those outfits on ugly character models. Again, the designs themselves are good, but the models just don't look good for a 2025 game. And if the main selling point of the game is to dress up these girls and enjoy looking at them, the models need to look good enough to make me want to look at them. It's like 70-80% there. I think $40 would be fair for what you get here. It's a shame that the execution in a few key areas is not quite up to par, because I would really like for this game to succeed. I want to see more games like it in the future, but I imagine a lot of open-minded but thrifty gamers will feel similar to me and choose not to buy at this price. I hope that the devs, Konami, etc will not interpret the poor sales as "don't do sexy outfits and fanservice", but I'm afraid that's exactly what they'll take away from this game's launch.

I'm not sure if you have to rank up your guild rank for the store to be open (since the rank up quest was what sent me down here) but there was a shop here with a whole plethora of new outfits. I then had to go to the desert town after which had its own lineup of outfits.
When you get past guild rank E you start getting side quests that have outfits as rewards. You may have to keep playing the story until Sister and Witch join to be able to level that up. Keep in mind there's just 10 story chapters anyway.
The outfit in the OP was from a character quest with Hermit and Witch.

It is a basic action game with directional dodge.
You start off with very basic combat. But as you progress in the skill tree, you have many more options.
Each character plays very differently.
You can switch characters mid combat.
Perfect dodge is hard.
The enemies have basic AI, but it can be difficult sometimes when there are a lot of them.
The bosses have little quirks.
Its not terribly difficult, but at the same time it is satisfying enough for me.
It reminds me of the Batman games, but I think it a bit more complex than that.

It's a pretty simple action combat game, so shouldn't be anything too bad.
It takes quite a bit into the story for Hermit to actually join the party, just a heads up.
The main story isn't actually that long though, 10-12 hours, even 8 if you're beelining it. The bulk of the game is the open world mode where you're getting all these outfits and stuff.

I wasn't counting any time in open world mode to be fair. I have over 20 hours (been playing since the 12th with deluxe early access) and still have 3 story chapters left. Of course, the content here isn't as "grand" as the main story.

It got a very shitty anime earlier this year. All the main characters' personalities were changed to match whatever Fairy Tail character they looked like, and every character was given a weird personality quirk or catchphrase that gets jammed into every scene no matter how little it matches the tone, all under the pretense that this is how Mashima himself would have written Farmagia if it were a manga.
Considering the chief director also worked on the anime Fairy Tail and Edens Zero, which were known for cranking up personality quirks (but never to the same degree as Farmagia), I think I'm never watching any anime based on Mashima's work again. Though I will check out that original anime he's writing for, since he recently mentioned on last his X/Twitter Space that it's coming along.

I am the OP. The main reason I bought this was because there was a different anon in pre release threads talking about how the costumes are interchangeable with any character. Then from trailers I realised some of the costumes actually showed panties which was a good sign. Then it was shown Hermit was a playable character. I put 2 and 2 together and had to see this in action.
I am very happy the game didn't let me down. I wasn't even expecting costumes like the OP at all.

Fate Samurai Remnant doesn't have any ecchi in it. At all. I finished the game but I could feel the boredom by nearing the end point.
Samurai Maiden has panties, but during photo mode there's a void (unlike here in EZ). The camera in the game is easy enough to get under skirts though. The game doesn't have much costumes but there's clothing damage (only lightly). It is extremely yuri and has kissing as a powerup
