Keyboard enthusiasm is often linked with autism and autism is also linked with transgenderism. The populations overlap, just like Linux users if you will there's a reason why they are often called linux troons.
As to why they started being called that I'll save you the effort of making an educated guess : there were some very obnoxious tranny posters in keyboard threads.
Anyway 60% is too limited unless you only play garbage like valorant, I have like over 90% of my keys binded when playing elite dangerous on a 100% keyboard for example and that includes a lot of shift + key etc etc too.

No I just use basic logic.

My core WoW keybinds are QWER X 1234.

Every layer of keybinds is just one modifier to them, like SHIFT + QWER X 1234 or CTRL + QWER X 1234.

I also bind ~8 of them to the mouse.

If I really need I can bind more just need more modifiers.

If you are reaching for the F1-F4 keys you are doing it wrong

On the contrary anon I came up with this because it is super intuitive

QWER are my core, and the ones with less modifiers are those with no cooldown that I have to spam. 1234 are more utility oriented.

Then depending on the class I use logic like CTRL is harm SHIFT is defensive and so on

Basically with some basic logic I know that if I hold shift and press 1-4 I'm definitely popping something useful for my survivability for example, it's easy to control any class this way

Razer is a meme company but for whatever reason their keyboards are rock fuckin solid.

My last keyboard was a Blackwidow Ultimate that lasted me for almost 12 years before one of the keys finally started shitting out and not registering presses.

I spilled drinks, food, fell asleep on, and even puked on that thing and it still ran like a champ after cleaning. The only other wear and tear on it was the black coating on two of the keys was starting to rub off so you could barely make out the letters.

I'm gonna miss that loud, clickity bitch.

i miss the days when people were ADDING keys to keyboards and calling that fancy.
bring back the macro keys, autoclickers, one button "GG rematch?" on the fly macro making to set up for a raid target swap, shortcut to open ventrillo, or teamspeak, another to mute, and all those keys close enough to pinky tap while still holding W and tapping space, but distant enough to not accidentaly hit.
now you can only get macros on a separate "deck" because people want to imitate their streamers who only use a self contained macro keyboard because it plugs into a separate streaming computer.

I also had a blackwidow ultimate before buying this one, ended up spilling one too many beers on it during the years but that keyboard definitely was a trooper.
I also don't have too many bad things to say about their mice, the deathadders are great bang for your buck and I was rocking a mamba tournament edition for years as well that I ended up giving away.
Sure, most of their product lines are overpriced RGB monstrosities and their headsets are actually shit, but then again I feel like that goes for most, if not all gaming headsets.
I think they have a few product lines that are always aimed towards people who do research before buying something, and the rest is just stuff they overprice and upsell with flashy tech jargon that has no actual real life application.
Then there are the forays into gaming chairs and other meme shit a peripheral company shouldn't really bother with.

yes, and where do most fn keys live? near the wasd where its easy to press along with another button? no, its in the fucking gutter of the keyboard, usually replacing the OTHER alt, or ctrl key, meaning you need to take your hand off the mouse, hold the key, THEN move your other finger to the key you want to fn.
yes that works for the GGEZ macro, and opening Vent or TeamSpeak (or discord for you i guess), but the main uses, muting yourself for a cough, targeting and sheeping a raidboss add.
having them under a single key was the point.
fn keys work fine for shortcuts and music controls, but anything you want to do while still using they keyboard for movement is out of the question.
shit, at that point just remap one of the bracket keys or page up/down to do the macro, since you're taking your hands off anyway.

I've been using this Ducky keyboard I bought 12 years ago. Sometimes I think about getting a new one but then I remember that it's just a keyboard at the end of the day and there's nothing wrong with this one.
A volume knob would be nice though, even dedicated volume up and down buttons.

I recommend finding a busted on Ebay for around $60ish and restoring them. They're pretty easy to work on. The bolt mod is the only hard part, but if you fuck up you can just buy a new barrel plate from Unicomp anyway, same with most of the parts. You can also buy the spring with the little plastic flapper so it feels new. Shit's cash.

I guess there's an argument for having one keyboard with linear switches for gaming and one with clicky for typing, but I'm a single keyboard personally. I just bought a keychron with decent reviews, flashed QMK, replaced the switches and keycaps, added some padding and called it a day aside from regular maintenance.
I genuinely don't understand how anyone would need more than one keyboard, though. Keyboards are fucking boring.

Mostly because Unicomp still holds the intellectual rights to the buckling spring design. There's also precious little interest in a buckling spring keyboard, Unicomp itself complains quite regularly about the inability to keep up with Chinese mechanical keyboards, they can still keep a roof over their heads because there's juuuuust barely enough interest in buckling spring keyboards and Model Ms that they get regular business for spare parts, repairs, and new Model Ms.

It was probably because I spilled water on it once, I thought I had cleaned it well enough, but after a while the 10key (which is the part the water was spilled on) stopped consistently responding and eventually started to spaz out when I used anything on it.

As long as you dont do anything like get it wet, you should be able to just keep replacing switches.

I was planning on buying one of those old IBM model F reproductions/buckling springs. Then Steam sale came along and threw that out. So I'm still gaming on a Filco Majestouch with cherry MX blues. One day hopefully i'll get one of those keyboards. But i fear that they're too slow for gaming at the same time. Mechanical keyboards of today are better for latency in actuation and they're capable of almost infinite inputs with no delay if your fingers are quick. I like the novelty of an old school typist keyboard, but there may be some disadvantages compared to keyboards of today. I'd need to test how they deal with stutter stepping in counter strike. Or maybe strafe jumping in quake, although it's harder to trigger the result of where you see it failing due to needing obstacle course maps to trigger why slow keys are bad.

I can't stomach putting down the money for it as of right now personally, but i know i want it and eventually I'll have it. Model Fs are the better versions of model Ms (or the non downgraded version) and the ones that should be sought after by enthusiasts. Forget what unicomp is selling.

my old keyboard shit the bed a few weeks ago and while I'm tryhard/autistic enough to want something mechanical, I'm not tryhard/autistic enough to get anything fancier than "whatever's at walmart or best buy" so I cheaped out and got a tenkeyless. I already hate not having that numpad but not enough to either return it or waste even more money buying a separate one. I don't know how some people think going as minimal as possible is a good thing, and yes I know the rabbit hole goes way deeper than just losing a numpad.

every crpg ever? i'm playing rogue trader right now but dialogue options running all the way down to 9 or 10 choices is fairly common, even in more normalfag entries to the genre like BG3.

It's about arm alignment from my understanding. Ideally you want your arms not going outwards while using mouse and keyboard. The issue however is with a 100% keyboard that it takes much space so you cannot place both keyboard and mouse the way that you can use them both comfortably. The idea of 80% or smaller keyboards is to reduce to space so you can place them in a more favourable position.

Either you have no clue what flagship means or I worded my post wrong, I was talking about products that savvy consumers buy, peripherals with good price to quality ratio, you know, things people who do research into the things they buy tend to buy?
The wired Deathadder V3 is a good example of this, has the same sensor as the pro variant, no stupid RGB's and isn't wireless, and it's 50% the price.

Could just try fixing the O switch by giving it an isopropyl alcohol bath, if that fails and you feel like opening up the keyboard, just change the switch with a new one, not that big of a deal if you have a soldering iron and if you don't, you should get one, pinecils are cheap and great for small electronics work.

250€ on amazon.de for my version. I like that it's modular and you can put the numpad on the left if you want. The media controller is like a mini stream deck.
Like I've seen that J2C video and since then it's been on my radar but it's extremely hard to justify that purchase right now other than memeing myself into saying I won't wake up the woman if I type loudly at night.

Dunno never measured it and I don't care but if I had to guess average at best, probably slightly less. I used a 100% keyboard with no issues but one game I had was played primarily on keyboard so I'd position it more to the monitors centre. When I wanted to play something with m/kb afterwards I had to adjust the positions again so I got myself a 80% keyboard as I never used the numpad anyway.

>Mouthbreathers don't know about Southpaw keyboards

The ideal keyboard layout is a mirrored southpaw without a numrow. Something like this but you replace those numkeys at the top with the fn keys.

Why mirrored? Because it's easier for righties to adjust to a mirrored numpad as their left hand can simply mirror the learned motion of their right hand.

Strange, works for me even after updating to synapse 4, it can be a bit iffy at times when the video or music you're playing isn't in an open tab and I'm playing some specific games, but most of the time I haven't had problems with it.
You sure the button is still binded as a play/pause button in synapse? Might have had some profile fuckery happen when updating.

I also have a cheap red dragon keyboard

To this day I still don't understand why I keep using a mechanical keyboard over membrane. It's noisy, makes my girlfriend complain and in the end offer zero advantages compared to the membrane keyboard I use at work.

I have a TKL keyboard and rebinded some of the buttons.
Scroll lock - mic off
Pause - media pause
Caps lock - Num 1
I also rebinded side button on my mouse to razer hypershift, now I have
side+lmb = Num 2
side+rmb = Num 3
side+wheel = Num 4
side+side2 = Num 5
side+wheel up = Num 6
side+wheel down = Num 7
side+dpi = Num 8
I can bind every single action to convenient button now

Ohh the actual pause button, mine still seems to work according to a keyboard testing site and synapse, no clue what is up with yours then, does it show as working in the actuation test? If not the sensor might be full of dust or something.

V2 Analog, haven't had any problems with it and the build quality feels solid.
There are definitely keyboards that give you better bang for your buck, but I personally wanted to get a full size keyboard with optical switches and needed it on the same day and this was the only one in stock within a 50km radius, I however haven't regretted my purchase this far and I don't think I will.

Typing on a membrane is slower and leads to more mistakes.
Because the quality of a good switch makes all the difference in every single key press.
But a lot of mechanical keyboards come with faulty switches that break after a year, beware of logitech's proprietary switches for example, they are terrible and not worth their money.

How is it slower if the keys have less resistance?

I have a meme $200 mechanical keyboard at home and the cheapest membrane keyboard at work. I type around 25 pages of text every day as part of my work, and typing is faster with the membrane keyboard.

Because some switches are better for gaming, some are better for typing.
Personally I can't imagine going back to a membrane keyboard after using kailh box white switches for example.

For gayman, any random mechanical keyboard will do so long as it has n key rollover and decent switches.

Mice are where the real differences come into play.

That's actually genius. All the ergonomic and desk space benefits of a 60%, but without losing any keys at all!
Still doesn't beat a split keyboard, and it would be nice if it was ortholinear, but it's far less fiddly and presumably cheaper. Probably the best compromise design possible, lose almost nothing, gain almost everything.
