Outside of RROD(never happened to me personally) a Xbox 360 owner was a alot happier than a PS3 owner up to around 2009, after that the Don Mattrick idiocy kicked in high gear and a bunch of exclusives started getting cancelled in favour of timed exclusive dlcs, kinect policy etc.

The prime of multiplayer gaming and that’s it. It was a shit fucking console that had the red ring of death and Xbox Live subscription. Lots of 360 games are copy & paste 3rd person cover shooters. Sure, it’s better than what we have now but no one should treat it like it was the best of times

Great system at the time but there's little reason for me to fire it up unless I want to play Fable II or Saints Row. Most of the good games can run on an 8 year old mini PC with a 2400G. Also the stagnation of the industry since then has left me little to be nostalgic for. I don't think I could ever consider it to be a retro system.

My most fond gaming memories were made on the 360. Was where I first started meeting and interacting with people from all over the world. Also the last console generation where the random social aspect of online gaming was ubiquitous before people largely started to stay in their own walled gardens with the launch of 8th gen consoles, probably due in part to increased moderation and censorship.

Hopefully one day it gets one of those piss easy softmods so i can pirate all games and dlc

It's not that it's impossible you were playing GTA4 and oblivion at 5 years old, but when people talk about a console being of their generation it's because they knew the whole thing, from marketing, to launch, to the first killer app, to the decline and then to it's death.

I got a PS2 in 2005 and stuck with it until 2011 when I got my 360 because I was poor. Most of my friends got a 360 on launch or a couple years after. And then I stuck with the 360 a few years into the Xbone's lifespan, as did all my fiends, because the Xbone was trash at launch. Then they switched to PS4 in 2015 while I switched to PC. And everyone was playing m rated games even when they were really little.

PS3 was better. Back then you gotta pay Gold to play online, watch netflix and and use Internet Explorer. PS3 let you do that shit for free and it had more apps like Spotify, on top of that you could copy your photos and music from your walkman, PSP, camera or even a fucking usb pendrive.

I got at least 3 gens worth of gametime on this console playing all kind of games. It's UI was simple, the avatars were cool little wannabe Mii's with better customization options. This console is where I got to experience a lot of amazing games

Aside from RROD (which happened to me on one of the older models, can confirm it was real) this was pretty much Microsoft's last good console. But that was the rule of thumb for 7th gen, everything was stagnating by that point. Sony included. It was just the last time they were relevant because it had good exclusives in third party. I still use mine to play Saints Row 2 because it never got patched on PC like Volition promised. Although the first game is the real exclusive. I still play the Crackdown games and have fun with those too. When you think about it Xbox had one of the most beloved games for a whole generation straight, Dead Rising 1. Therefore this console actually had it's worth back at it's time.

You missed out on Mass Effect (unless you gamed on PC) and Dead Rising. Some pretty big games by anyone's standards. Or Ninja Gaiden 2 if you're into action games of that style. Sony having free online multiplayer was something that i did approve of. Xbox set a bad trend, but it seems the whole gamepass thing made up for it eventually considering you're actually getting something out of it now i suppose. It's not just pay to use online anymore, but we're giving you free games now. I'm still of the opinion that subscription is shit in general though. And obviously if you're into Halo that was always the brand draw of Xbox. I can attest to reach being pretty fun.
