Eh it depends. Women like Lara Croft or Ayame make sense since it's more acrobatic guile and cunning instead of pure brutal strength. Even the Amazon from D2 has a litheness to her general play style. If it's a hulking gorilla woman then I could understand what you mean.

A woman who does literally only male things and possesses traditional male qualities like strength and martial prowess and no female qualities what-so-ever. For this series, it's quite acceptable. I'm currently playing the first game, where you are saved by a girl boss character, then you help a widow who is cutting down men left and right. Yotei mc is just another such character.

Female protagonists in action games only work if there's supernatural elements involved. Like Bayonetta. She has literal magic at her disposal and most of the big events are done by the demons she summons and not herself. Something like this is far easier to swallow than a game with a more grounded approach having a woman physically dominate trained male combatants twice her size.
