Looks like Aspyr continues to be utter shit at their job.
M-maybe they'll patch it.
At least it's not beamdog fucking it up.
>>715622406>Aspyr through its parent Embracer Group announced its acquisition of Beamdog in April 2022 for an undisclosed sum.Might as well be.
is it more moddable at least now?
>>715622164 (OP)Cut content restored / worth it?
>>715622379Anons are still crying that KotOR was left to die unpatched on Switch, so good luck lmao.
>>715622164 (OP)It's NWN2. Of course it won't review well. lol
>>715623393How so? It's basically a graphics re up.
>>715624778You underestimate gaming journalism.
>>715625660maybe it allows for more polygons or whatever and modders can put in higher quality models in.
A superior game (NWN1) got a superior remaster
>>715623508No restored content
It's even buggier than the original release
Just get the GOG version if you want to play NWN2
>>715625856All they did is inconsistently blow up textures with AI.
I watched some "should you buy this" youtuber comparing it to the original version and his original version was obviously malfunctioning in a dozen ways despite the fact that I remember playing the GoG version like 3 years ago with no issues or fanpatching.
>>715625856Pretty sure there's a hd mod somewhere.
>>715625940Yup, anything else is wasted money, even if it's 10 bucks. Nwn2 shines with the toolset and modules, not graphics. They are shit in the ee, too.
>>715626494I mean, there's a difference if you actively search for it. During playing it's likely non-existent.
>>715626494>>715626412this shit was just an excuse to relaunch it on steam, zero effort
Should've been Beamdog
>but muh BG2 woke campaign and companions
Irrelevant, their NW1 port is often updated despite having come out in 2018
>>715626126>and his original version was obviously malfunctioning in a dozen waysI think he was showing a common bug that happens when you don't reboot your PC long enough. It's probably one of the few bugs they actually fixed.
>>715626212Ive played with that mods and it still looked like shit
Is the engine 64bit now at least?
>>715626572The difference is EE having about 32.5GB of upscaled textures with GTX 1080 8GB as a recommended GPU because fuck you.
>>715622164 (OP)What is the point of these half assed remasters, I doubt they make any money
>>715627796Main reason is
>NWN2 wasnt on Steam before>they added controller support to (hopefully) get some controller retards to buy it I guessThe rest is just AI upscale lol it costed next to nothing to do
What's a fun class to play in nwn2? Monk? I haven't messed with it too much
>>715628517NWN2 was on Steam until 2012 or so.
At least the MP works again. I'll let this shit cook before I touch it.
>>715627796>>715628517>I doubt they make any moneyIf you can get bunch of jeets to make it with a budget thats equivalent of a coffee and a bagel then why wouldnt you do it
>>715628667Ah well didnt know that, but the point still stands though that it wasnt available currently
>>715622164 (OP)Shame, they did good work on the Tomb Raider games.
>>715622164 (OP)I'd rather just play the GOG version.
>>715622164 (OP)Will get it next year when it's actually ready
>>715627796Hoping to bait some of that BG3 population
>>715625940>It's even buggier than the original releasehow to spot people who never played that garbage at launch
I don't follow. Neverwinter Nights 2 is not a good game.
There's nothing they can do.
>>715622406>At least it's not beamdog fucking it up.what kind of retard thinks of a response like this?
Beamdog did a ton for the EE of NWN1 and is still updating it with new features for modders and shit. Aspyr will never patch NWN2 because they're so fucking lazy and it's insane that they only reason they got funding again is because they outsourced Tomb Raider to the community team.
>>715629107Anon, I don't say that lightly. This new release is legitimately unplayable, as in "can't last for more than 5 minutes maximum without a crash" unplayable.
>>715622406>>715629712This is trve, for example they released a big lightning patch for NWN1 for free in 2020 out of nowhere
>>715629958New looks better in all but the last comparison.
>>715622164 (OP)Why would you release an enhanced edition of a game that's literally unfixable by the dev's own admission?
>>715629958>let's enhance the models but not the lighting and the textures, you know, the things that made the game unplayably ugly
>>715630124>he doesnt like shiny giant tentacles?
>>715622164 (OP)These releases are always mixed at first and I assume people are overreacting as usual
>While I do not recommend this EE, most people are blatantly lying in the reviews.Lol
>to be reasonable: if you donโt own the original NWN2 Platinum, this is worth it for the price. Now, if you do already own the original, the improvements may not be enough to justify buying it again, at least they weren't for me.
>>715626494>>715626412>Made the cart brownerThat would be 29.99 dollars + tip
>>715630382It's not that, it's that the tentacles and dragon don't match up anymore, they look like they're lit in two different rooms.
>>715626494Itโs not Warcraft 3 reforged or gta trilogy remake levels of bad but holy shit this is the blandest laziest โenhancedโ edition Iโve ever seen
>>715627076It's an objectively bad game
>>715627205No thanks, bro
>>715628517When game with picrel aesthetic? Seems like ruskies sold us out.
>>715627796They do. See it from a business perspective :
>you can add a name to your track record >you can get funding for ah established project>you can hire talent and brag with a established priject>ai heavy work, meaning you can train talent in ai, basically for free, as the game will sell itself>this combined makes it easier to get funding for a new gameBasically you can train talent for free and it's an easy way to get money/investmebts for your next gane
>>715628694Honestly, the time where you could hire them for little money is over. Even if you can skip local slave traders and get Indians for their local price, they might still create cost 35% of an US equivalent. That's anything but cheap.
I once wished here for Iwd2ee and got it. I like it, I really do.
Now I wish for iwd3.

>>715633483As you wish, here's your extremely gay 5E IWD3.
>>715626494Slightly bigger UI is nice I guess
If they actually fixed all those mechanically broken feats that's nice too
The most important part for me is, did they actually do something with the camera like they advertised, or does it still feel like shit?
>>715622164 (OP)What's wrong now?
>>715634526Inferior to GOG NWN2 lazy cashgrab that mainly added controller support for who knows what reason and fucked up mouse interface in the process
>>715633965>did they actually do something with the camera like they advertisedit's worse than before.
>>715634526Everything, little one.
Why do people always list Mask of the Betrayer so highly?
What set it apart from other rpgs of its era?
I have played BG and BG2, but never delved into NWN or Icewind Dale
>>715629958I like the flat lighting of og NW2, it look uncanny in a good dark fantasy way
>>715636460It's well written and evil path is one of the best. It feels unfinished though.
>>715633726Classic v/
... Where is it though?
>>715638684>It feels unfinished thoughEverytime...
>You lived long enough to see people want beamdog back
Grim
>>715639470I mean, it's literally an obsidian game, they're all unfinished
>>715627796no putting shit on Steam is great because it's constant guaranteed passive income if it's a recognizable name. it's not like consoles where a new one comes out every so often so you have to re-optimize and release it again, with PC it's a one and done.
>>715626412>>715626494So all they did was add the modern games blur filter.
>>715639918Home and S(h)ov(e)lware
>>715639740Hasn't been true since 2010.
>>715641380Lol, lmao even
>>715641410Everything they've done in the past 10 years has been a polished, safe mediocrity.
its EE SAAR Edition. Unironically.
All this EE brought is Upscaled textures *made by AI), tweaked camera and console support.
AND NOTHING MORE. I am not joking.
My suspicion is that they were planning to make a console integration but later in the development stage decided to sell it to retards on Steam, so they called it ENHANCED EDITION.
>>715642410>tweaked cameraYou wish
the tomb raider remasters were pretty much perfect, i don't think aspyr are incompetent. dunno why this remaster is so lacking
>>715643743TR was handled by fans and they had to tard wrangle aspyr, same with soul reaver. aspyr are genuinely incompetent
>Star wars battlefront remaster by Aspyr>50 GB GB>Original battlefront games>almost reaches 10 GB and that's if you add both
i recently played up to act 3 of nwn1, about 40 hours in, and quit cause i started to hate it. shitty encounter design (fight 15 of the same mob instead of bakdur's gate 2 style intelligent placements and mixes of melee/ranged/mages/thiefs,) every chest is locked and/or trapped and you have to wait for tomi to decide to unlock it since you can't control him directly and sometimes he will run off to fight a mob instead. you can't justify bringing any other companion cause you need a thief unless you play one yourself. the story seemed ok but wasn't enough to carry the shitty campaign along. i know multiplayer is good, never played it.
anyway i'm curious to try 2 but i might just pirate this or get the original
>>715632631Fuck off, schizo retard
>Completed NWN2
>Never played MotB
I was going to go back but then Bioware being faggots removed it from steam
>>715623793playing kotor in anything but PC is beyond retarded, only the community can fix that busted ass game
to be honest, this "EE" is both funny and sad.
funny because all those jeet remasters like GTA definitive edition, Mass Effect EE, Warcraft 3 reforged and so on at least tried to add something new. It was bad, but still, they tried.
but in NWN2 EE Aspyr didn't even tried at all.
i still have no idea how is it even legal to sell product like this.
>>715646509>i still have no idea how is it even legal to sell product like this.It was meant for consolefags but Aspyr relized they could get some quick buck by making available on steam too
>>715626412>>715626494slightly less bloom and slightly larger UI?
>>715642410>tweaked cameraOh...
>>715626494>lowered contrast>worse bloomi hate remasters so much it's unreal
>>715626494man, couldn't they fucking upscale the UI or something, it looks blurry
>>715648282Gamepad/console UI looks ever worse, nevermind the fact that it looked like ass to begin with.
Is base NWN2 or the other expansions good? I only ever hear people talk about Mask of the Betrayer
>>715649615Mysteries of Westgate is all right. Storm of Zehir would be too if it were made with a different engine, but as it is, there are too many loading screens and the combat controls are aggravating.
>>715649278why are you playing as a nigger?
>>715649278this looks worse than the OG
>>715651716no it's slightly better
>>715652029no lighting is worse. especially when it comes to armors or overall contrast of the game.
>>715652103you're just being a contrarian now, it's very slightly better
>>715652202see
>>715626412>>715626494OG has better contrast which results in a overall better image quality.
>>715622164 (OP)>AI Upscaled Textures>Console Support>Steam Deck Support>Tweaked CameraThat'll be 29.99 + Tax, sir.
>>715625940>It's even buggier than the original releaseSeriously?
>>715653698Yes the ui changes are very buggy. Interesting how they can't even get this low effort shit to work
>>715653698Yes, and I mean the actual original release, not even the sort of sometimes functional version that's on GOG. See
>>715629713
>>715622379This the only cope... I mean hope now.
>>715626412>>715626494https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XXPg3wKpLo
>>715622164 (OP)How did these dudes get involved with remasters? Most of their experience and credits were porting games to mac and sometimes *nix.
>>715658352are they jeets?
Aspyr is great, what's not great is their executives and Embracer rushing out and barely marketing their releases.
>>715655860who the fuck cares about the original release
the remake doesn't compete with the original release
it competes with the current state NWN2 which includes all bugfixes and more than a decade of mods
>>715626494>>715626412>scales icons up like 20% well good enough, plop it on steam
>didn't even fix the parry bug
for gods sake this is like the one bug the community over the years has wanted fixed that couldn't be done with mods
I'm gonna say it; I miss beamdog.
>>715660918Nice try, Beamdog.
Is it that shit? Was looking forward to replaying it.
>>715661190Everything they did after bg 1 and 2 were fine. They stopped adding cringy oc content and the ee versions were genuine improvements.
I guarantee aspyr aren't going to give nwn 2 the same level of support beamdog gave nwn 1. This shit will probably be abandoned in a week.
>>715622379Like how it took them a year to release four patches for Tomb Raider remastered?
>>715659767Does parry not work? I never bothered with it so I don't know.
>>715664353only the first hit in a chain of attacks of an enemy can be parried, the rest can't, which is a long standing bug that makes parry nowhere near as good as it could be
