I’ve been saying this for awhile but Nintendo really fell off in the latter half of the Switch lifecycle. Nothing hit as hard as BotW, Odyssey, XBC2, Astral Chain, etc

Here’s the truth: MKW and Banaza were supposed to be Switch 2’s equivalent to BotW and Odyssey. Only one problem: they aren’t as good as BotW and Odyssey. MKW especially so. I don’t think this is le death of Nintendo or whatever, at this point they may well be too big to fail - but they are getting worse at a rate that is hard to ignore.

It got a 97 metacritic because of how astoundingly good it was, a score so rare that only a very small handful of games have ever been at that level or exceeded it. Bananza on the other hand seems like a great game but nowhere near the technical perfection that Odyssey reached. We get a handful of games on par with Bananza in quality every year, while a game like Odyssey only comes around once every 5 years or so

I just watched the DF video, and it seems that not only is that the only boss fight where it happens, but that the sustained frame drops are actually fairly infrequent in actual gameplay.
The only issue is that the double buffer means that when the game would go to like 55 FPS when picking up an item or loading, the entire game goes to 30 FPS which fucks up the smoothness, whereas with proper VRR it'd be a tiny hitch.

This game's minor performance issues are going to be overblown by this board no doubt. They're going to treat a 1 second drop like it's Monster Hunter Wilds all over again

Eh, disagree. The level design in Odyssey is way more dynamic than Galaxy's strict hallway format. Yeah, the game's tone is light and the difficulty isn't Sunshine-tier, but the sheer amount of movement options and the creativity behind some of the Moon missions give it insane replay value if you're into the mechanics. Galaxy's amazing, don't get me wrong, but I couldn't wall jump my way across the map and do dumb hat trick shots in that game. Different flavors, both good.

I'll buy it used in a month or 2 off marketplace, hopefully theyve patched the performance somewhat by then. Either way I'm not paying full price, some other sucker can

from what I saw, they seem to basically run comparably in the base game areas, with performance and picture quality edging out to the Switch 2.
In Phantom Liberty, namely Dogtown, both the Switch 2 and Steam Deck (on comparable medium-high settings) get around anywhere from 23-35 FPS depending on what's going on. The Steam Deck can kill picture quality with FSR and other settings to get like 33-40 FPS, but it looks real bad.
Honestly I dunno why you'd want to play 2077 on either machine this way. Just wait for handhelds to be able to run this thing properly.

Gyro, motion controls with the joycons, mouse controls, the touch screen for the UI. If you really like Cyberpunk like I do then the Switch 2 version offers something unique.
