I actually have a lucky egg to make it go faster and it's still not helping that much. I was able to bypass most of this in the previous gens because of rare candy duplication, but here I can't and it's tough.

If you have a 3DS, you can use CFW to export and import your saves from DS games, allowing you to just add low level versions of the mons you want from the get-go using a save editor instead of suffering from trying to play level catch-up on a bunch of mons with bad XP curves.

Once it evolved after the berry grind you shouldn't have had a problem. Milotic levels up very quickly.

Okay, and? I used Skoripi in Pearl and it was great. Drapion is a very good pokemon.

You could have had four pokemon in the late 40s, which is more than enough to handle the the E4 in Platinum. Milotic is borderline cheating against Cynthia.

Use the VS Seeker for grinding.
Get the Thief TM, teach it to a Yanma with Compound Eyes, go into the route with Chanseys, keep using Thief on them to get Lucky Eggs.

The best way to grind for the Elite Four is ironically the Elite Four themselves. If you don't mind losing, just keep challenging them and beating their highly leveled Pokemon over and over. Whatever money you lose is easily made up by the Amulet Coin.

The alternative is you play with a normal team of okay mons you caught along the way that isn't the team you want, maybe avoiding as many trainers as you can so that you can feed their xp to the mons you do want later. Feeding everything to your starter just means you'll be so over-leveled you'll be disincentivized to actually use your other mons, even if you've only got neutral attacks against the pokemon you're fighting.

I did look them up first. Chatot is one I've wanted to use for a while and I've got Mr. Mime up with dual screens and Psychic support. Chatot also can spam Sing.

I did, it was pretty easy. It still came with not great moves until I taught it Shadow Ball.

I evolved it at level 20. That's still a 20 level grind.

Skorupi's stats and attacks suck so it was a grind to get it to evolve and be useful.

Where did I say I lost? I ALMOST lost. Cyrus' Gyarados countered just about everything on my team and Weavile is fast and strong with Ice Punch and Night Slash. I taught Drapion Thunder Fang specifically to deal with more Gyaradoses and Pelippers and such. Barry's Infernape is the same way, it's fast and strong, my team is much slower. But I still beat both.

My team are all level 53-55 now, everyone has decent stats and between the Rock-types and Floatzels grinding is pretty easy now, if not monotonous.

i seeeee. i dont play Gen 1 and 2 as much as their remakes and the only cloning glitches in Gen 3 and 4 doable before the postgame that I know of are only in japanese versions of rs and dp

The Old Man glitch is important because it also gives you the stats needed to make the Mew glitch work properly too. That's how I filled out the Pokedex, I used that glitch to catch the version exclusives I couldn't normally get, saving myself more playthroughs.
