Why did everyone stop playing this? Everyone is on Mycopunk now.
>>715828880 (OP)Community lost interest after the devs betrayed them and diverted time and resources into making a shitty rouge-like spin-off that reused 99% of the original game's assets.
>>715828880 (OP)There are 6x more people playing DRG right now, a 5 year old game, than Mycopunk.
haven't had the itch lately. waiting to see rogue core and next update which i thought was supposed to be this summer
>>715828880 (OP)>mycopunkKek. There's a quote by Randy Pitchfork on the steam page:
>โMycopunk is cheaper than a point of meth - probably has fewer side effects, too!โ Randy Pitchford
>>715828880 (OP)Well people kinda have played around with all the possible builds possible multiple times and there just isn't enough content to keep things fresh.
we need new biome, cave gens, and more perks
>>715828880 (OP)I like the game and devs but I have played my share of DRG. Will check out Rogue Core if people seem to like it.
>>715828880 (OP)i stopped playing because there are no more /v/ lobbies.
>>715831614wdym? I see a "trans rights" lobby every day.
stopped due to battlepass faggotry
i know it meant nothing, but that didn't stop the randofags from getting all fixated on exp grinding for the 'pass' and not having fun
battlepasses, even tongue-in-cheek ones that don't affect anything, inevitably bring on this fucking fill-the-progress-bar awfulness that sucks all the fun out of everything
funny how all the best skins are dlc only and ALL ingame itens sucks
>>715828880 (OP)i spent a good amount of time but moved on to Darktide. the perks and weapons feel very generic and not interesting, it got old. Darktide has a pretty good gameplay loop and the perks and weapons all feel very different from each other.

>>715828880 (OP)>devs create lighting in a bottle by creating a genuinely great cheap but simple live service coop game>they almost immediately give up on providing it good updates and pivot towards making some roguelike shit nobody asked for>game becomes boring because barely anything changes across 5 years, only fun in short bursts
>>715833295Darktide is all flat rooms and humanoid enemies. Don't know what anyone ever saw in it, L4D too for that matter.
is this a shill thread? what the fuck is mycopunk? i stopped playing DRG because i got to legen 3 with all 4 dwarves and got every cosmetic, will play during the next seasonal event
I've had my fill of it after around 440 hours. I enjoyed my time with it but at this point I'd rather move on to other games that have been sitting in my backlog.
>>715828880 (OP)The shit they did with their whitelist for modding is when I quit, together with a bunch of talented modders.
Helldivers 2 ate its lunch.
>>715828880 (OP)Because the devs stopped working on it. They seemed to have a good thing going, with a cycle of updates and players buying DLC to support it, but that apparently wasn't enough.
>>715836897you can easily bypass the whitelist
>>715835751This, we all have every item and have seen everything in the game
>>715836897n-nooooo now i need to click two extra buttons to bypass the whitelist for my hecking wholesome voice spam mod that never gets old!!
>>715828880 (OP)>make good game that quickly amasses a large, dedicated playerbase>immediately abandon it in favor of shitty spinoffs that even your biggest bootlickers can't pretend to give a fuck aboutGenuinely baffling
>>715828880 (OP)They stopped releasing content updates and Helldivers 2 ate a large part of it's audience.
>>715833643>they almost immediatelyTo be fair, they were supporting it for several years. But yeah, it is obviously over now.
>>715837536Survivors is good though
>>715828880 (OP)I hate playing with other people especially random strangers.
Darktide, Vermintide, Deep Rock, B4B..
All games have failed to capture the same magic that L4D made me feel.
I thought it was nostalgia but recently I decided to reinstall the game and no, it's definitely not nostalgia.
>>715828880 (OP)I'm not sure what happened but enabling any mods caused my game, only playing with -disablemodding prevented crashes. The mod update made the crashes more frequent, and it's not worth it to setup Mint yet.
>>715829015This is probably a mycopunk stealth marketing thread
I think a lot of goodwill evaporated when they released a second supporter pack DLC ostensibly for people to support future development of the game, only for them to instead announce they were going to abandon it.
>>715839551It's a fucking supporter pack and not paid gameplay content.
>>715838187It's called being a pcbro
>>715828880 (OP)they lied about rogue core
they wanted to develop it as a paid expansion and turned it into a spinoff
expansion = more numbers
spin-off title = less numbers
>>715828880 (OP)Literally no one gives a shit about Mycropunk. Not even the devs know what to do.
It looks way too rough even for if it's for the style and the enemies don't have any personality or unique design besides
>Ball, Cube, Diamond and Abomination. And even then they are all the same shit because of the dumb limb mechanic.
And the progression is slow as shit.
>>715839604It's a supporter pack for DRG. They released the pack and shortly afterwards announced they were stopping development on DRG for Rogue Core.

>>715828880 (OP)I had plenty of fun with it but at some point I just didn't feel like playing just for the game itself. I still do the various seasonal events and have fun.
The long ass wait for Rogue Core made it worse than if they just decided they were done with DRG.
>>715840219They were careful to adjust the wording to cover themselves:
The first supporter pack said it was to help further development of DRG.
The second supporter pack was to support Ghost Ship Games and future developments.
In retrospect it's clear what they were intending.
all my niggas are playing DRG survivor

>>715842154Most of these things just weren't possible when they were a penniless indie studio.
Stuff like fluid simulation and more environmental engagement would be obvious sequel material - if you want to blame them for something it's that they are doing fucking survivor- and roguelike garbage instead of a proper DRG 2 with new cool stuff that requires extensive code de-spaghettification.
>>715842154Glyphids, the most basic enemies, can walk over any surface at any angle. that's more interesting design than anything else in a horde shooter.

also rogue core is going to flop
>>715842154>No tactical advantage if you dig, in fact you're just wasting your timethis is true maybe half the time
the other half of the time the black box is adjacent to some horrific cliff wall and if you don't understand how lines of sight work you'll get destroyed if you don't clear the terrain
I never even tried the game because it seemed like streamercore that funds advertisements to shoehorn it into videos.
>>715842154>Can't build walls, structures, bridgesEngi can, using pancakes.

What the fuck are you people talking about????
>>715843140Those are literally useless and a massive waste of ammo
And you reminded me of another one of my grievances. Why is my main method of traversing the map doing parkour and shit instead of digging and using hooks and ropes? You design completely malleable maps and instead of playing with that you do your absolute best to avoid engaging with that mechanic???
>>715843335it's wild how they kept making tedious unfun bullshit events
>>715842154Everyone has a digging tool bound to right click by default.
>>715842378>if you want to blame them for something it's that they are doing fucking survivor- and roguelike garbage instead of a proper DRG 2 with new cool stuff that requires extensive code de-spaghettificationI do, immensely
Trying to make DRG into a fucking live service game, selling an additional founder's pack just to immediately switch more focus onto dumb spin-offs and a fucking board game, has earned them my ire. I would rather they drop it entirely and make a completely different game if this is how they were going to handle it but ghost ship has speedrun picrel from the small garage dev who built the rough as fuck beta into the beloved early access title to become this pandering garbage make work for dumb women
>>715828880 (OP)>Release Date: 2018>"Why did everyone stop playing this?"No particular reason, anon. It's an 8 year old game and it had a good run, but people just moved on as they typically do. There's no shortage of multiplayer co-op games out there. I myself haven't played the game in probably 5 years or so. Have they actually added anything substantial to the game? Every time I see news about an update, it's just more cosmetic slop.

>>715847725I do, actually. I play without Bosco (true Solo) as well.
I'm the level 974. I'm not perfect, mind you. Trijaws still pose a real problem for me when combined with a slews of Slashers and Praets right under the Trijaws.
>>715828880 (OP)The problem is, they never did enough to make the missions feel like they had enough variety. The biomes don't feel too distinct, some of the mission types are too basic or overlap with others, modifiers ironically do very little to spice up the mission, ditto for rare events and core infusors, and so on and so forth. What was keeping the game fresh was that it was getting regular updates, but there wasn't enough depth to the novelty they were adding to keep things going beyond that. It ultimately meant that DRG has less replayability than something with preset individual levels, as those are at least all distinct enough from each other.
>>715847980>they can all run slightly faster than you can sprintBy the way
Vanilla bugs can be faster than you. No Aggressiveness 2 needed.
Sometimes (maybe 2 out of 5 encounters) the bugs will go into "sprint mode" and no matter what how fast you are, the bugs will always match "your speed + %" to take at least 1 bite and then back to their normal run speed.
This is easier to see if you have 30+ swarmers chasing you than Grunts.

>>715849462well that's just not true, promotions at early levels tend to have OCs which definitely change how you play
>>715849735tell him, not me
>>715837603this. they also probably had run out of cost effective ideas to implement.
development costs money, and that needs new players to keep going.
they only had so much time they could effectively get out of it.
>>715842154holy shit nigger you definitely werent playing.
there were multiple strategies devised around using the terrain for your advantage, building out bridges, digging structures out, etc.
You did that to make boss arenas and to prepare for static defenses on recovery missions.
It was very important to do so on high difficulty.
>>715850491>they also probably had run out of cost effective ideas to implement.I have a billion Krone idea...
Traversal Tool and Equipment OCs
>Napalm C4 (lower damage, but larger area and increased ammo)>Tesla Generator (increased range, continuously electrocute bugs that get close)>Plascrete Hose (continuously streams smaller platforms at increased fire rate)>Heat Flares (applies heat to enemies in small radius around the flare - desu this should be vanilla)and so much more lmao
>>715848660Pouring even more external stuff into the game modes is a waste of time. You'll always experience the end of it. There's not enough freedom to yours or enemies or mission mechanics to make matches feel different. Mechanics are where you get all the mileage especially if you refuse to make linear content like a campaign or something that mimics a campaign without a story. The engineers foam platform gun sums up the issue nicely
>It only makes platforms>you can land on it and enemies walk around itTurn that into a foam spraying expansion gun and now you can
>barricade paths of any shape>build cover on any terrain>create ramps tunnels and statuesDRG mechanics largely feel one order of freedom away from being permanently amazing. I mean you can't even remove your own ziplines as Gunner? Come on. Scout grapple is obviously the only utility outlier that feels amazing.
>>715851250there really are so many ideas there
>driller uses a set amount of drill fuel to make a dash in a straight line through stonethought of that in like 2 seconds
>>715850491Yea it had a very good run. I think they were also starting to run into the problem of the game beginning to feel bloated. Both in content and in performance.
There's still like 10k players daily so it's not like it's dead either.
>>715851372>DRG mechanics largely feel one order of freedom away from being permanently amazing.honestly, kinda. to this day i do not get why gunner zips have angle limitations, seriously. i can think of so many scenarios where a straight up or down zip would be helpful
>>715851250everything you just mentioned would be overpowered or near useless in the case of the flares
>>715851481what the fuck are you talking about?
if you kit the drills out properly you ALREADY run through stone faster than bugs.
Dash speeds would be ridiculous on top of that.
>>715851549look man, more ways to vary your build would help the game a lot, tool OCs have come up many times before in discussion
>>715851548The idea is that everything has limits and drawbacks, and you need to be slightly creative and maybe DIG a bit to make your ziplines work.
You are meant to shape the environment around you to your advantage in DRG, not just rely on one trick.
>>715851623>The idea is that everything has limits and drawbacksexcept grapple, which has only a length restriction and nothing else. and "shaping the environment" would be a lot less fucking tedious if digging could just be one tick so i'm not standing in front of a wall plinking away at rock for 2 full minutes
>>715851618you have plenty of ways to vary the builds already.

these games dont work without a lot of enemy variety. the same 3 spiders and 2 big spiders over and over again gets old once you have tried out all the maps. events are cool but not really enough to solve the repetitiveness of waves
>>715828880 (OP)i hated the rock pozz gimmick and just never bothered getting back on after that stopped being the current thing
>>715853493>elf nigger tries to engage in retarded elf semantics to talk his way around being a stupid elf nigger that didn't know drillers napalm could be stacked with debuffssave your whining for your fellow elfniggers, elfnigger.
>>715853524you should have seen the greenlight version.
the base glyphids were pretty much all there was.
>>715853548Bad-faith engagement, low effort non-contributing posts. That's you, anon. Sad.

>>715853546it got even WORSE
the event of the season after rockpox is basically not even doable without boring zipline cheesing
i miss more player lobbies
>>715853816just make them yourself
>>715853493>carve a bunkerhey anon.
did you know that the driller has these big drills on his arm he uses to carve bunkers?
and a plasma gun combo that can carve bunkers at a distance?
satchels are the drillers side option to deal burst damage because he doesnt HAVE a good way to deal it.
its the weakness of his class.
your entire idea is either OP by increasing his horde clear, or its useless because it robs him of an important option.
>>715853737Gunner's napalm grenade doesn't slow down bug, fyi
>>715854124gunner isn't meant to have any options to slow down bugs and has no perks that alter his fire like driller does.
he is pure DPS with zero CC and lives by his ziplines and ammo count.
>>715854287oh, and shields. sorry about forgetting that.
>>715854096Having more options is never a bad idea. Driller does have Ice Spear for infinite range high burst damage, and Sludge Blast for medium/close range, though I don't recommend letting any bugs get into "Close" range in H5-2222.
But you seem to mistake my idea as something the player MUST use when implemented, which is not true. The reason why I said "(if you want)" is because I've seen others doing it, not me always doing it.
Other than that, I agree, I use Drills and EPC if (I have) for digging and dealing with frozen horde and Mactera balls. Freezing + Axes can also be a good high burst damage option at close range. Then, for horde clear, freeze + fire C4 (if implemented), Napalm C4 alone wouldn't deal much damage at all for how fast the bugs are with all modifiers on.
>>715828880 (OP)Still playing it but with how fucking goofy the DRG community is acting lately in regards to Rogue Core "stealing dev time" I really hope it kinda takes over DRG in popularity just as a final fuck you to those people

drg threads suck, just the most angry impotent faggots with nothing to say
>people asking for DRG 2
you niggas ain't seeing what's happening with killing floor?
Good sequels no longer exist
>>715854415having more options for a casual well balanced game IS a bad thing.
balancing isn't easy.
>>715828880 (OP)>Why did everyone stop playing this? It's done. It's finished. The game isn't getting anymore new seasons, the old ones are on auto-rotation, and there won't be any more new content for DRG because they're working on a sequel/Rogue Core.
Nobody is going to give a shit about the new game, are they?
>>715828880 (OP)they stopped adding content and left us on space aids.
>>715854918Fuck no. Vampire Slayer already came and went; what's the point of playing a dorf styled version with worse everything?

>>715828995>Community lost interest after the devs betrayed them and diverted time and resources into making a shitty rouge-like spin-off that reused 99% of the original game's assets.bibibibingo, I gave a pass to the whole quirk chungus cringy vibe they had going on with the game but it has become clear they're one trick pony and I'm not going to play every reimagining of DRG
>>715855146no updates is fine, every game has to end
leaving it on rockpox mode however was a shitty move
>>715828995>>715855289completely different devs and models
>>715855289the alpha test people got to play seemed pretty decent, aside from essentially being like 80% DRG

>>715855312>leaving it on rockpox modeExplain
>>715855497nta but didn't they leave the poxshit stagnate for like a year before updating to be able to disable it?
>>715844240>muh cosmeticsjust play the game, man.
>>715855565Yes they did but I was thinking more of what's happening right now instead of something that happened well over a year ago
>>715855497Rockpox started in November 2022 with season 3 and ended with season 5 in june 2024. It was pretty long for something a lot of people didn't like, and after season 4 we didn't have any news for a while so it felt like we were stuck with it.
>>715828880 (OP)I got it recently. Pretty fun, Iโm surprisingly good at it. But I think thatโs mainly due to the ease of play than any inherent skill.
>>715838187Deep Rock isnโt really the same as L4D. Itโs got hordes of enemies but the way itโs paced and how it works is different. Different objectives as well.
>>715848082Challenge is fun.
>>715828880 (OP)We still play it. Its the perfect "jump on for 2 rounds after dinner with the boys" game
>>71585568920 months with a season that had a lukewarm reception, with the devs pretty much saying that they're starting and focusing on developing DRG 2: roguelike bogaloo
So what if I say that I like most horde shooters? Excluding the obvious stinkers like PD3 and soon to be KF3.
>>715856240https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EfBOHWeaSo
first time checking the trailer and I'm incredibly dissapointed and angry, this did NOT need to be a separate game
>>715828995fippy bippy, but honestly is was kinda inevitable? what else can you add?
could rogue core have worked if it was a sperate game mode of DRG? I feel like it couldn't
Im going to play rogue core when it enters early access
