The PS5 came out in 2020. We're two years away from the PS6. Absolutely nothing has pushed this thing to its limits yet which is ridiculous considering just how deep we are into the generation. I've never seen a cross-gen period last as long as this.

I've played quite a few games on this console and it's been nothing but solid. Some games definitely lack the polish of PC, but games load almost instantly, very few crashes, and overall the experience is exceptional. It's one of the ugliest consoles ever but the UX has been pretty great. PS4 is still better, but only just barely. PS5 just straight up lacks games. Same as always.....

It's not just the PS5 as a console. This generation was largely just wasted years in general. Half the games went into pre-production for 4 years before being cancelled and instead of better graphics we get RTX wasting resources and Indian optimization.

Thereโ€™s nothin like hitting the on button and kicking it back on the couch with a controller in hand after a long day at work and getting into your game in less than 30 seconds. Yea you can technically set that up with a pc but who wants to do that? Consoles are cheaper comfier and way easier to use for casual chill gaming. The ps5 lacks exclusives but it makes ps4 games way better experiences with fast loadtimes and frames

Because the gen only actually started in 2023 but both Microsoft and Sony refuse to acknowledge that. No one could buy the things during Covid at all yet they treat the systems like you could just order them online at a moment's notice. They also have barely any first-party games.

seeing spider-man and death stranding at 60fps is already like, this is how good video games can look. we don't need better hardware.
i don't know how sony will justify the PS6. PS5 pro was already a mistake. they should just pump the brakes and let this be an extra long gen like the 7th gen.

Because home consoles are dying, it's best to jump ship now before the $1000+ consoles hit the market in 2027 and 2028. Get a Switch 2, get a Steam Deck 2 if you're a real gamer; if not, get fucked.

if you have the PS5's specs at your disposal and you can't make a game that runs well, the problem is you, not the specs.
PS5 was a meaningful upgrade over PS4 but hardware has stagnated since then. GPU makers wouldn't be desperately pushing upscaling and framerate interpolation if they were making real strides in rendering performance.

The software side of the generation is a dismal failure (specifically generation-exclusive games). Devs had to buoy the PS4 and Xbone for a few extra years thanks to how hands-off Sony were about PS5 scalping, because Jim Ryan thought that letting scalpers drive hardware numbers for almost 2 years was going to be enough to impress shareholders in the long run. I honestly hate that Playstation shot itself so badly in the foot because jesus CHRIST Nintendo needs some pressure for once this goddamn decade

Why can't you just get a console that you can take with you and play it anywhere along with a PC that you can take with you and play it anywhere. Like you know, a Switch and Steam Deck? I don't see the point of home consoles or desktop/laptop gaming PCs anymore.
