Void Kong final fight kicked my ass because I forgot you could use chunks as a shield. Also this game exacerbates the problem Odyssey and 3D Land/World had with depth perception, someone at Nintendo EPD really needs to learn about shadows and conveying depth in 3D space. The only difficulty I've had with the game has been with bizarre controls or camera angles, otherwise I agree that it's extremely easy.

I think the difficulty is fine. I don’t play games to get pissed off. I play games to relax and waste time. It’s harder than odyssey so at least there is “some” difficulty to it.

I feel like the game loses all of its steam once you get to the stupid racing layer. Not only is that a waste of a layer (and Diddy/Dixie) but the levels after just feel less engaging. The transformations don't add much of anything to the game other than the puzzles where you're literally forced to use them.

The game is fun, but believe it or not I actually felt like it was bloated. People are meming about 40 minutes of gameplay, but if you play like a regular person and do challenges, try to find some fossils/bananas you actually realize how few tricks they have and how little platforming there is in the actual main game. Only in some of the challenge do you do any of that. The main game is mostly just spamming the sonar ability and then mashing on down or forward punches.

Nintendo games are meant to be ALL AGES, but all ages to them means "90-95% of the game is aimed at toddlers, 5-10% is aimed at older teens" and that is basically it. There is no difficulty curve. The game starts easy and ends easy and then has some post game challenges and a few random ruins that are above average in terms of difficulty. Odyssey was like this. 3D World was like this. Wonder was like this. It is just bad game design. I feel like even 10 year old me would have said this game was too fucking easy.
The only thing they do is they make it so enemies later on do at least do noticeable damage, but even then you have a ton of hearts, free revives, frequent check points and generally can beat most enemies by just mashing punch with the occasional chunk chuck.

It's a problem with modern games in general, although I won't give Nintendo a break for falling victim to that issue. Companies listened too often to the people that wanted games to "respect their time", and in the end interpreted it as "make sure the player never loses progress." Game overs aren't a real thing anymore, checkpoints are frequent, players aren't allowed to get frustrated. Even games designed to be hard fall victim to this, where they feel ironically more about trial and error despite not being able to lose nearly as much progress from a death. All you really get now is short burst tests of skill at most, rather than long form tests of endurance.

Just beat it.

The difficulty definitely gets closer to the “just right” zone by the end, especially in the final few layers. I think they did a much better job with the difficult curve than Odyssey, but I haven’t sunk my teeth into the postgame too much so maybe that will change.

Difficult or not, the game is definitely going in my all time favorites. So many aspects of it felt like they were made for me specifically. I love video games so fucking much

Like Super Mario Odyssey, all of the really difficult stuff is relegated to post-credits optional super challenges.
It's designed so really young kids can beat the game and all the actual challenge comes in from the optional stuff when you're trying to 100% it.

The boss of Tempest Layer was pretty cool. The ending punch was kino even though it’s just some nothing easy as fuck boss.

I just rolled credits. I can say I felt like the difficulty gets appropriate near the end of the game, like the last two layers + K. Rool, his final form was actually a nice little challenge and felt like I had to actually try and not just mash punch at him. He also had a decent amount of health.
Though I found out you can skip one of his aerial ball phases. If you knock him down, mash punch on him, and then get just out of range of his re-transform and go back in you can get enough damage on him that it skips one of them. It actually means you can get him to like ~45% life before he does one of the aerial ball moves where he fills the entire arena with nasty banana goop.

I think the bosses are good in theory, they just need more aggro and fake hp bars that are really just 3 phases in disguise. I avoided Bananza for all of them unless required and they were more fun that way.

She sounds fine most of the time where it feels like they properly localized her dialogue.

Then... Then... Then there are times where... she just talks like... an anime character! And it sounds awful! They need to... stop doing... no one talks like this in English!

I hope you get what I mean. She is cute enough when she is just talking to DK like normal during the little nap sequences or whatever, but then it'll be a story beat and they make her stutter and stammer in a way that only sounds good in Japanese.

Switch 2 still has a really low install base compared to every other platform at the moment. Bananza is one of those games that’s just going to sit on shelves for the next 8 years and move significant units throughout the console’s lifespan (similar to Odyssey and BotW).

Odyssey was pretty similar around the time when it came out.

I didn't read the thread and yes the game is too easy but that's nothing compared to the biggest most annoying problem the game suffers from which is way too much talking. Everything everybody everywhere all the time talking. I'm thinking about getting a refund. I can't take it anymore.

I think XC2 is bad, but 3 is way fucking worse. It doubles down on the shittiest aspect of 2 for me, which was connecting it to the other games. Yes XC2 was already shitty with the harem garbage, but I could've lived with it being its own thing if they didn't have to make it connected to XC1.
They then later triple downed on connecting these games together by ruining X with the garbage that was Chapter 13 in its "Definitive Edition."
