the redesign makes more sense in the context of the game. he's a funny monkey trying to support a young kid, constantly furrowed brow rare dk would look offputting in comparison.

The fanbase is waning, I used to be pretty hardcore tendie during the 3DS/Wii U era but Nintendo's recent output and scummy practices pushed me firmly towards PC and I believe it's the same for alot of Nintendo fans on /v/. There's nothing wrong with the new design other than it being different from rare's. It just resembles the original DK a lot more is all, which wasnt informed by the too cool too smile mascot vibe from the early 90s.
